harden and embiid are the only ones who can score against brooklyn This nets defensive is crazy. These picks are going to be TRASH
This mirrors what I am hearing others say as well. The future isn't written yet, but those BKN picks are looking more and more like early to late teens picks. Not worthless, but unlikely to net a game changing player. Brooklyn blew up as most predicted, but they re-armed well and more quickly than most anticipated. Lots could happen over the span of years we get their picks and swaps.
Nah it was rallying. "Making the best of it" sounds more like cope. I havent seen players bad mouth Kyrie at all. It's all coming from the media and fans who listen to them
Its funny that you actually think Nets are good, or are going to be good.... They suck, welcome to the rebuild club...
The Brooklyn and Philly game was close because they were playing at home and Bridges went off. However, I do not think they are going to the playoffs, they need “A GUY” to improve and go to the playoffs. Spencer Deewiddie and Bridges is not the guy they are only supporting players on a good team. Brooklyn have talent and depth but no is a potential Star. The picks from the Suns are too high to find a highly talented player for the next two years. They need to contact Houston and BEG us for their picks and swaps and they need to give us Bridges and Claxton. We have our upcoming Star who we are grooming: Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun and Jabari Smith. All three of these players have elite skills and will be Stars ⭐️
Sure, the Nets this season have a bunch of long, competitive guys, many of whom can shoot. They are bunch of role players and just better than role players, sort of like the Rockets teams after the Yao/McGradey/Artest squad. But you now also have guys who will be forced into bigger roles like Bridges or Clayton, which they may not be suited for. Also, those types of players are not very consistent throughout a season or from season to season, especially on offense. To overcome that, you need a very good X's and O's coach with schemes to get easy shots, and help make those lulls less significant. Jacque Vaughn is a good coach, but I haven't seen any evidence that he is that type/level of coach. The Nets would need the next Adelman level offensive mind, and they don't have that. Plus the Rockets had Morey who was always wheeling and dealing to bring in talent. Sean Marks has found a few unexpected good players like Clayton, but I don't see him being able to keep shuffling through role players to fight through those lulls. Plus in the next 1-2 seasons, guys like Seth Curry, Joe Harris, and Dinwiddie who have made some money and will be 30+ yo, will probably want to go to contenders over resigning with the Nets. So yes, the Nets picks will be late lottery picks for say the 23 and 24 drafts. but there is no way to know what the last few picks will be, because it is so hard for that level of team to be consistent year to year, and stick together. They could easily fall off with those picks landing in the top 10. This is not to say the Rockets should never trade those picks, but they should not use them just to use them for any middle level star player. Especially, when the Rockets still don't know if we have a Gold-Medal level superstar on this team yet. In a few years, they should have that answer. No reason to rush.
The nets are still going to make the playoffs this year and no that team does not suck with everyone available
I was surprised to see the Nets turned down 4 1st rd picks for Bridges but I guess they want to spend the 2nd half of this year evaluating him to see if he can turn into something like a Kawhi with all the extra touches. The Nets actually got a really good package back for a 34 yr old Durant. One thing to keep an eye on is how much luxury tax is Joe Tsai willing to pay for a middling team? Is he gonna pay Cam Johnson this summer? Nic Claxton next summer? He can't even afford a superstar with all these $20MM wings.
Cam Thomas averages like 40 ppg, and now hes coming off the bench again? Are they tanking this year? It would make sense for them to, they really do have a lot of very good role players now. This team is similar to cleveland a year ago, where if you are able to plug in a super star you are going to be a good team. They also have a lot of assets from other teams, plenty of picks. They have multiple ways to get out of giving Houston top picks, i just dont see it happening. They seem to have a ton of flexibility now, pretty much everyone except for Ben Simmons can easily be traded. Their front office seems to be able to find talent in the draft as well.
They will be fine this season but they will trade some of those quality players for first round picks this summer. Simmons is the perfect tank commander. I think we'll get a top 10 pick from them. I don't think free agents and stars are lining up to play for Joe Tsai. I'm sure a big chunk of players didn't like how he handled things with the now-disbanded big 3.
There is no reason for them to tank, unless they get their picks back from us. If they are really going full tank mode, we should take Bridges and Cam Johnson for some if not all of them. Bridges is an all-star level SF and Cam has great potential. If they hang on to those guys they will be a middle of the pack team in the East from defense alone. Bridges will be better than anything coming out of the mid-tier picks in next year’s lottery. After this year’s pick, we won’t need any more young players to develop.
Cam Johnson will be a free agent. We can just sign him to a big offer sheet in the summer. If the Nets match then they'll have to dump one or more of their other guys unless they want a big luxury tax bill. This Nets team won't look the same next year. But, Stone may have enough desperation to deal the Nets picks anyway. He knows Fertitta will have higher expectations for the rockets next season.
