Nets held firm and Kyrie caved because he actually doesn’t want to go anywhere else

Nets management to Kyrie: if u ball out and show us that you’re committed to actually showing up for work, then maybe we can give u more of what u want contract-wise next offseason

So when presented with an option to lead, he choose to do what a normal person would do with 30 something million on the table.

Oh he's so noble and daring opting into a contract that's going to pay him 37 million for the year because the Nets weren't going to help him out with a sign and trade leaving him to opt out and having the Lakers signing him for 6 million.

    What a PUNK!!

I get the feeling that maybe Kyrie overvalued his services on the S&T market.

Lol him opting in is basically just extending the time needed for the Nets to find a suitable trade partner. They are not going to find a good deal with the extension deadline looming in a few days. This is far from over folks.

Kyrie can’t just announce he’s opting in, he has to put some weird message behind it too like he just did something big

    dude is just strange

It really doesn’t matter. Best scenario Kyrie opts out next year and KD stays and doesn’t play much. Any trade would have brought some decent players back to Nets and we would get a mediocre pick in 2024.

Woj threw away some of his integrity suggesting Kyrie to the Lakers for a measly 6 mil so consistently on national TV with a straight face

the lengths the media will go to to keep the Lakers in the limelight is insane

Was hoping he'd bolt but the Nets can still cave this season. Hold firm

There is also a good chance that they stay healthy, Simmons fits well and they complete a successful season. If healthy, this is a team that can contend in the East. ... And eventually stay together. Gotta consider that possibilty!

    Almost...

    There's always next year!

I mean we only held the pick swap for 2023 anyway, in 2024 we have their pick.

There is still a chance that 17 is the best pick we get from the trade. With that said, I like our chances and the trade. Them acquiring Ayton would be ideal for us. Simmons and Ayton will not get it done. If they get a haul from the durant and kyrie break up, then we will be lucky to get lottery picks.

I am excited but not as optimistic as most.
