That, to me, is a bad thing.

Not if third base is bigger

Not sure why that bothers you

Third base will be the same distance as all the extra part of 3rd base will be towards 2nd and the OF.

You’re not sure why? Really? Thats a pretty big change considering its been the same distance for well over 100 years.

With the distance between 1st and 2nd being 4.5 inches closer, steals will he much easier. We see how many steal attempts were decided by as little as an inch. Same with stealing third.

I’m not sure I like that.

I can't wait. Anything to increase activity on the basepaths is fun and interesting to me. Station to station waiting for the homerun is a bit boring.

I'm kind of shocked that there has been 3 different times that a single player got 3 hits in the same inning. I'm sure it is rare enough for a team to bat around TWICE in one inning, but for one of those players to get a hit each time as well? If you had asked me I would have thought a person GIDP 4 times in one game would have happened way more often than that.

I am a traditionalist when it comes to baseball. To me it’s going too far when you start changing the field of play. I do realize that the pitchers mound was lowered at one time but the distance was still the same.

I guess players that are like juan pierre and michael bourn will carry a higher value again. I guess that’s one positive way to look at it.

I'm pretty sure the lowering of the pitching mound had way more impact on the game than the base size increase.

It’s the shortening of distance between the bases. Thats a huge change. And why? There is no big need for that like there was for lowering the mound.

Increased from 15 to 18 inches, home plate left alone.

So no, third to home will be 1.5 inches closer.

4.5 inches closer from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. You gain all 3 inches from the 1st and 3rd base bag because it will still be hugging the foul line but only half of that (1.5) from the second base bag because it's center point will remain the same. Same thing considering 3rd base bag to home plate, the bag will be 1.5 in closer to the left field wall as it is home plate.

I love the change, I need strategy entered back into the game of baseball vs only watching strikeouts and home runs. Add that to the shift change and we have successfully recovered the original game of baseball.

Hopefully steals quadruple and batting averages MLB wide go up 20-25 points.
