Springer would not be happy (not that he would have a choice) He signed with Toronto to be closer to home and held a grudge against the Astros for service time manipulation delaying his FA season by a year. It probably would not be an issue after ( if) it was done. But you better believe IF he was shopped George eould be screaming in the GMs ear " Not Houston and stay on east coast" But he is still George Springer and the Blue Jays expect to compete. I'm sure they aren't saying "Yes we got Kiermaier so let's trade Springer"
Springer is not coming back... for those who asked, Correa is not coming back either. They've moved on.... We've moved on. Life is good! Don't F with that
Just playing along, I would think a deal for Springer would require something along the lines of (keep in mind TOR needs/wants), Garcia, Whitley, Santos and a flier. Maybe throw Paredes in, too. That’s just my off the cuff deal. Probably a little off.
Springer traded to Yankees, then they sign Correa. Let's get as many of those 2019 teammates back together!
Agree with Frankie on this one…for 420m+, that’s kind of an eh team. Lineup is good, not great, rotation has a lot of risk and drop off after 1-2…pen outside of Diaz, who knows.
it’s basically a similar or slightly improved team to 2022 where they won 101 games. Is it dominant like you would expect from that size payroll? No but they didn’t have the solid homegrown foundation to start from like the other best teams in baseball. First goal is to win the division and what they did this summer probably gave them the best chances of that in 2023. Best team doesn’t always win 5-7 game series…As 2019 Astros can attest,
Talk about trying to buy a World Series. Firstly, I am glad its a NL team. I like that they may make the Stankees the #2 team in NY. I wonder if this strategy will work? If it does, how long will it take for other big market (rich) teams to follow suit?
They will certainly be the favorites to win the WS. Will health hold up? Will they stay hot in the playoffs? Who knows?
They lost Taijuan Walker, DeGrom, and likely to lose Bassitt. Added Verlander, Kodai Senga, and Quintana. That's a wash for me. They added some nice RPs with Raley and Robertson. Am I missing something?
Agree a the sentiment that for $420m that’s a very mid roster. Assuming we re-sign Vazquez and Brantley, our lineup is light years better. And while their rotation certainly has more top end potential, for the price they have far greater crash and burn exposure. Kinda crazy.
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/12/giants-to-sign-sean-manaea.html Manaea to the Giants at $25M/2yrs. Good deal for SF.
The Mets had a really great roster last year and have a great roster this year. The NL is stacked, though so it is going to be tough for any team to win the NL pennant. I'm still shocked the Phillies made it to the World Series last year.
