May seem premature, but we already know the Rockets fate as it relates to the playoffs. So lets talk about what kind of roster begins the 2022-2023 season.

I am curious about who you all feel we will try to move and if we would be selling low or high.

Will off-season moves result in a more balanced roster or are we still in collection mode for best talent available?

What will be the off-season strategy?

Does anyone believe Silas wont be there?

Only guys this team should keep are

Green, Sengun, Christopher, Mathews, Tate, and maybe KJ.

Everyone else is not what I would consider at this point in the career, people that can be counted on in playoff basketball.

Trade Wood, Gordon, and Porter for picks.

I want IVEY and or Smith. I think IVEY goes top 2.

Grab a defense big and I think the rise back to a playoff team begins.

Exciting offseason for us with so many young players with bright futures and probably an excellent pick added. All the vets on short contracts. Hope we keep them in Houston for as much of the summer as possible, chemistry is important too.

I don’t think we’re moving any of our young productive players unless it’s for a significant piece, so this would be my predicted roster.

    Green
    KPJ
    Tate
    Sengun
    J Christopher
    Nix
    KJ
    Garry Bird
    Garuba
    Draft pick
    Draft pick
Incoming traded players or needed veterans fill the rest.

Pending trades of Wall, Wood & Gordon and letting Schroeder walk, we are in a good place to move off of these guys and try to bring back better value or fit.

    - Draft Jabari if possible
    - Use Ego + Nets pick to move up in the draft
    - Trade Woodfor expiring + pick
    - See if trading Wall for other expirings is possible

    100% want to keep:

    Tate
    Green
    Sengun
    Christopher
    Martin Jr.
    Garuba

Keep or gone, wouldn't bother me either way for these players:

    Matthews
    Nix
    Queen
    Fernando

    100% don't want to keep:

    Wood
    Gordon
    Porter Jr.
    Wall
    Schroder
    Nwaba

Are you sure we can't get into the play ins? =)
I hope we make a run at a backup PG, one that is decent from 3%, can run an offense, just have turned 26 when FA begins and may or may not look like Craig David from the early 2000s. No one specifically in mind but it's needed

Ideally we do a complete refresh on the vets of this team. Don't need any that think they're a #1 or even a #2/3 option. We basically have 4 guys with that mindset if you include Wall. I am however warming up to the idea of keeping Schroeder around but the situation gets complicated considering Nix being full-time next year.

Wall has to be the quietest person of this season. I would at least give him credit for not acting up as a consolation prize.

    I agree.

But my reasoning for the players I don't want to keep is mostly to open up minutes for young players.

Last night was an awesome performance by the Rockets, but Adams had a season high.

I really hope we can fix this.

Hard to imagine truly being competitive until it is.

if the rockets are smart they wood trade wood, kpj, tate, and possibly gordon and wall if possible, other wise let their contracts run out and free up cap space, don't want to bring back bad long contracts.

Face it, we don't want to pay wood, kpj or tate. you want to be the ones who find these guys and trade them, not the one who overpays for them. Unless KPJ can be signed to a team friendly deal, say 3 years at 6 to 7 million a year, i'd ship him out. He needs to prove that he can be a team player first, someone who's willing to play sixth man, before he gets a bigger contract. He's a straight 2, but he's not a long term solution playing with Jalen. We need a great defender along side jalen. Tate is nothing more than a bench player on a contender and isn't a longterm starter with his 3 point shooting. We need to sell high on him and just role with KJM till we find something better.

    Limited roster spot.

This is one of the main reasons why some of the non 'key' young guys should be played more. Development aside, but it's to get data to know who is worth keeping.

Stone is keeping lot of people around. Hope is few will flourish, maybe some gets good enough to get traded.

    Casualty so far.
    ---
House let go (Jazz picked up)
Armoni let go (Raptors picked up)
DJ Augustin let go (Lakers picked up)
    Theis (had value, traded).

I think Schroeder and Fernando walk and those spots are filled by our two draft picks. Hopefully Wood and Gordon are traded for a single younger player. Tate is a team option next year, but I wouldn’t mind extending him to a reasonable contract. He should not be starting beyond this year, though.

Overall, I think the turnover should only be 3-4 players.

on Silas, we are at the bottom of the league, which is where we want to be for draft purposes. I don’t know if his playing distribution is what it would be on other years where we actually want to win. I’ll give him another year before I expect to see some results.

Bring back the core young guys + draft picks from this year. You will probably lose your ass off again next year, but then you will have a shot at Wembanyama, Scoot Henderson, or even Derick Lively. Still looking like 2024-2025 as the years when this team will start to contend. Should have $$$ to sing a tier 1 FA and hope that some of the picks made in these years will be panning out.

Keep: Alp, Green, JC, Mathews, KJ, Tate
    Depends: KPJ
Rid of: Wall, Ego, Schroeder, Wood

    Draft either Chet or Jabari.
Big wing with second pick if Chet (hopefully), if Jabari grab Kessler.

Try to trade Wall and Eric Gordon this off-season.

Schroder/Bruno Fernando don't need to be around but might.

    Add one of Jabari Smith-Banchero-Chet
    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    Porter jr...............................Josh Christopher / Nix
    Jalen Green.........................Mathews
Jabari Smith or Chet...........Tate / Kenyon jr
C (more) Wood....................Banchero or Jabari or Chet
Sengun...............................Garuba / Banchero or Jabari or Chet

    Nets pick

bring back ?Armoni Brooks? and BAM!!! 42 wins next year at least BABY!!
