Yeah but injuries and Harden isn't really the point. The Clippers or Blazers could do this. Trade off Leonard and George two different teams for all their picks, then they play out their contracts and rejoin and stacked Clippers teams, with high picks from the year or two they tanked and first rounders galore. Blazers as well.
The off chance that Leonard is unhappy with the Clippers and he just bolts to the Lakers would still be there. I know what you mean and it is a bad ass plan but it is anything but fail proof. No superstar displayed 100% loyalty.
he’s declining and will be getting paid too much…Harden, just ride out into the sunset with Morey in Philly
if I’m Morey, give me Harden for Simmons, Korkmaz, Shake Milton, and a pick or 2, and don’t call me again until you’re ready to accept
The best timeline is that the Nets don't trade Harden for Simmons, and Harden declines his player option in the summer becoming a free agent leaving the Nets devastated. But it seems that Harden has already checked out and the Nets know they have to trade him before the deadline. Harden's probably dusting off that fat suit right now.
I don’t buy that at all! If Philly flames out again and Nets go further than them in the playoffs, that’s another year of Embiid’s prime lost just because Morey’s reluctance to give up Maxey. Not a good look. Then I don’t think getting him in the off-season is a given. They can’t possibly free that much cap space to sign him. If it’s opt-in and trade Nets will want Maxey again, same situation…
God I hope it's in the summer. And no sign and trade. He just walks for absolutely nothing. That would be glorious. Our Nets picks would be worth far more to us whether we use them or trade them.
If If Harden really wants out and Philly wants to trade for him using Ben Simmons, why not just try again at a title this post-season and then trade Harden for Ben in the summer? They traded their entire future for Harden and they're gonna blow it up after one post-season attempt in which they were en route to cruising to a championship before fluke injuries?
The Nets are now 4-5 games away from going 6th all the way down to a 12th seed and currently on a 7 game losing streak..... that's with KD (STILL) out and Kyrie not playing half his games at home. If that stays its course into the playoffs (if they even get that far) I don't think the Sixers need to be worried about the Nets moving further than them.
Wasn't exactly team to team but Lebron did leave Cleveland for a few years, won a few in Miami, then returned to Cleveland when they had a bunch of assets thanks to the tanking they did. If Harden wanted to come to the Rockets though (and I seriously doubt he does, just imagining here) it would be better after the season when the Rockets get their hopefully top 5 pick and can build a better team around him and won't have to trade assets for him.
By then it would be too late for the Nets if Harden declines his player option in the summer and becomes a free agent. If Nets deal him prior to the deadline, they can get something in return instead of nothing.
they could easily trade away Ben Simmons to San Antonio or something for picks and then would have to convince a Detroit or some other team with space to take on Tobias…could attach the picks received in a Ben Simmons trade to do so then they’re pretty much right there
Lebron was pretty much born and bred in Ohio so there is that. Harden has yet to play for LA as Durant the former DMV guy has to play for the Wizards. Houston has been an offseason home for many players. I actually think Harden wants to be a Beta to a higher Alpha (Durant). His only fans are the ones wishing he could lead a team to the promised place.
It would be a really weird fit though and I think his primary goal is to have other players carry him. I'm not saying I couldn't see it happening, but I'm just not sure how it would work out.
If the Nets are actually willing to trade him by next week, they probably know he wants to go to Philly. They can't get him without a sign-and-trade, so the Nets can just hold off on these trade talks until after the playoffs. It's just weird to me how a team can trade their core (including an All-Star talent in Allen) and their entire unprotected draft capital for the next 7 years for a player that they give up on after just one shot at a title. When they were healthy, nobody was beating them. If they get healthy by April, they will still be the favorites.
