He’s had one bad game, and another bad shooting game against St. Mary’s.
Maybe the Texas game, but it was a blowout.

Looking at the records, games left, and my belief that Nets will likely win a play in-game

The pick should end up 15-17

Better than expected at the season start for sure.

You don't always have that luxury. If you go throwing assets at a team not looking to trade, you are going to seriously overpay. if an elite player becomes available ahead of your timetable, you pounce and adjust accordingly.

Stone's been making deals since he was 12, so he knows how this works.

Those games against St. Mary's concern me, If he gets bullied in the tourney he could absolutely drop to the 3-5 range. Guys like Ivey or Mathurin could be drafted ahead of him if they excel on the big stage.

I’m giving Gonzaga a pass against St. Mary’s.
That’s like the Texans beating the Titans, too much familiarity.

If, and it’s a big if he has a bad tourney he could drop. I doubt he has a bad tourney and he will be 1 or 2 off the board.

If the pick does end up at 15-17, that's a HUGE W for us considering it was expected to be basically a 2nd round pick. That's basically where we got Sengun and I can see Stone finding another guy being overlooked in this draft class.

Moving from let's say 26 --> 16 would be a very steep price, so to get it for free because Kyrie is an idiot is just lovely.

It definitely gives Stone some options if, God forbid, our pick falls out of the top 5. He can package that pick plus the Brooklyn pick to try and move back into the top 5 if there's a prospect Stone is dead set on drafting.

You're probably right, I'm wondering if he was in the casino too late before the St Mary's game :D

I expect him to have a great tourney and likely go 2nd. If we draft 3rd for instance, Ivey would give us a dynamic young backcourt, and a defensive big could be drafted with Brooklyn's pick. Chet at worst will be a stretch 5 and dominant shot blocker, but I'd like to see him against some more legit bigs in the tourney before deciding if he should be drafted ahead of Smith and/or Ivey.

If they lose the play in games, then the pick is I'm the lotto.

It seems unlikely they would pass Cleveland and avoid the play in, so the lotto pick basically comes down to 1 or 2 games. If (somehow) Charlotte gets on a tear and passes them, it is a 1 and done game vs Atlanta to see if we get a 2nd pick in the lotto! Exciting stuff however we look at it

True. The Rockets will definitely have ample options from now until next offseason.

My desire is to attempt to move the nets pick this year and perhaps Wood or Gordon to an asset next year. See where the pick is next season then take all of that and the Bucks pick. Along with tons of cap space. All of that if done correctly will enable you to be extremely flexible.

If the Rockets pick is top 10 (it should be) it will be even better.

Damn can you imagine. In your scenario we get our own top 3 pick this year. Trade BKN, Wood, Ego in any combination for a teams unprotected first next year AND THAT PICK hits top 5?? Is there a universe where we could land Jabari or Paolo this year and Victor or Scoot next year? Im bout to bust!

We also want to root against the Lakers and the Pelicans (or whoever might pass them) to miss the playoffs and hope the Raptors get in. In case the Nets win the play-in, their draft position will be ordered with the playoffs teams. We want them to be the worst playoffs team to get the #15 pick.

There is still a slim chance that the Nets fall below Atlanta, Charlotte, and Washington and miss the play-in altogether.

While I agree with you, it's just you can't discount that probability even if miniscule. Anyway, still, the discussions were still on key given that the title/description of the thread was very broad. Think what you want but you have to agree that the thread name tends to be very misleading.

I'd like a ball handler/playmaker. When you've got a lot of weapons, you have to think on how to use them next.

Embiid's gonna feast tonight. BKN has nothing inside. Philly, in a high scoring game.

LOL we really thought the Nets would gift us a lottery pick. We might just get the 32nd this year :D

EDIT: Next year, this team will have Joe Harris back and a full season to mesh Simmons.

    Worst case scenario fellas.
