That’s fair. I think you’re wrong in the sense that he isn’t athletic.
He looks slow because of how lanky he is. But he is consistently beating people down court and able to stay in front.
    It’s an optical illusion

You're probably right - and I must confess that since first seeing him play in "under age" basketball, I have been convinced he can't take the step up to the next level. And yet he always has.

I'm most likely suffering confirmation bias based solely on the risk.... if he busts everyone will be all "how dumb did you have to be to not see it?"...

I have faith in his mentality as much as his rare skill set.

Laterally I'm a bit worried about Chet. We knew Mobley could defend the perimeter coming in, and I think that is the major question with Chet. Can he defend forwards in the NBA?

If so, I'd be thrilled to watch a Chet/Sengun frontline for the next decade...

Mobley is elite on the perimeter for a big.
Chet is very good on the perimeter for a big. It flips inside with block shot ability.
Chet has more than enough lateral mobility and explosiveness. Is he elite there? Probably not. But he is good to very good in that department.
He makes up for not being Uber elite by being smart and ridiculously long.

His mobility, fluidity, speed is unheard of for his size.
And that’s just on defense. His offensive upside is elite, but that’s more projection.
Handles, shooting, and ability to play in multiple systems is breath taking.

As much of Clutch Fans salivates over Chet, I recall a short time ago when 60% of CF didn’t want Mobley because he was too skinny, and everyone knows that frail big men are busts.

Chet makes Mobley look like the Incredible Hulk, but we are cool with him…? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

    Right?

CF wanted nothing to do with Mobley. Now they salivating over the homeless man’s Evan Mobley.

“No brainer, clear cut, not even close number one.”

I get it, words can be confusing. Well a homeless man is poorer than a poor man.

So if it helps, pretend JR said ‘a very poor man’s Evan Mobley’.

    Again. That’s dumb.
Chet is very much defensively equal to Mobley and more advanced offensively already.
Unless you’re one of those idiots that thinks the number 1 prospect in basketball isn’t a top flight prospect.

    It isn't necessarily dumb?

Cade was seen as a generational player last year. Mobley was briefly a consensus 1 ahead of him.
To suggest those guys might be streets ahead of players in the following years draft isn't dumb - it is a legit argument that can be made!

It may or may not be right, but it isnt dumb!

    What mistake?
It is interesting how we remember things differently. I remember a ton of folks on CF wanting to draft Evan Mobley. The Jalen Green hate still prevails on this board because of it. (Though, it has been rather quiet lately)

Rudy - c’mon man, I’m no Green hater (see ‘the Grass is Always GREENer’), but it was at least 75/25 Green to Mobley**. And the Green Gang was at the time, shall we say, quite vocal. And many, if not most, of the pro-Green, anti-Mobley takes were ‘Mobley is too skinny/frail, superduper high chance of a bust, do not want’. That being posted over and over again was literally months of our lives…

**Not to mention a few Suggs Thugs. You know who you are…
