I don't think Buddy can be acquired without Tobias. Harden + Hield = $67M EDIT: Scratch this, I forgot they would send out Curry and Green and other fillers. Maybe it can be done.
oh well…Philly is trying to contend Bradley Beal can’t even hold declining Harden’s jockstrap, Lillard isn’t that much younger than Harden, is not on his level, and was trash this year…those are the other options they’ve been holding out for
Morey is going to cave just like he did in the CP3 deal for Westy. Oh boy. I think he actually might give up those 3 for Harden.
you don't think so? The Nets have already come out and say they hate his playstyle with him stopping the ball so much and he's not exactly a stalwart at the other end of the floor either
What leverage does BK have to be demanding both Thybulle and Maxey? Morey can clear cap space in the summer for Harden. Getting rid of Simmons is not a problem, and a team will take Tobias.
they loved his exact same playstyle last year tho…slow pace looks a lot worse when u have little to no shooting on the floor
I'd tell them to eff off if I were Morey. I'd be like, "Do you really want to risk losing Harden for nothing in the offseason?" Negotiations are all about leverage. And the fact Harden can leave for nothing in the offseason puts the Nets in a very poor leverage situation if they fear that's a real possibility. Harden has already made such an obscene amount of money that who knows what he'll do.
I think Brooklyn needs to stick to it. You are right, Philly can outright sign him, but with the way Embiid is playing this year and knowing his prior injury history with those legs, does Morey really want to play russian roulette with this year? The East is up for grabs, would be stupid if Morey doesn't go all in this year already. Who knows what happens next year.
Because if Harden signs with Philly without a trade it's TAMPER MANIA, at least that's what I'd say if I'm Sean Marks/Tsai I'd have to think the league would do something about this one because it's high profile, like a McFail-Joe Smith situation.
Yes, the best scenario for us is Harden walking in FA and Nets get nothing. However, I don't think Nets getting Simmons makes them better short term or long term. Short term, Harden is clearly the far superior player even after his "decline" this season. And long term, Simmons is not looking to get better. The Sixers thought they were ready to compete when they had the two all stars in Embiid and Simmons. But Simmons never improved through 4 seasons and he has proved to be extremely weak minded overreacting to any slight criticism. He will be a dangerous star player for whichever team he goes to. (BTW, that's why I never want to have him on the Rockets.) If Kyrie is flaky, Simmons is even more so.
Harden really is a toxic dude now. I can't believe the Rockets kept him moderately in check for all those years. Maybe they just did a good job of not leaking it.
If it was just Simmons going I’d agree it doesn’t make them better. But when we start adding Maxey and a shooter like Seth to KD and Kyrie things start to change slightly. They are also missing Joe Harris.
Harden pretty much owned this franchise. It's the culture built by Morey and Brown. Cater to your superstar and give him everything he wants. It makes sense he was not toxic here. He never could co-exist fully with the superstars we brought in, otherwise, we probably would have won a championship with him and CP3 if we would of just had some patience.
I will enjoy rooting against the 76ers and the Nets for the next few years. Morey and Harden deserve each other.
