Ray has an opt out after 3 years. He surely cashed in on a great year.

Definitely. But that's a great price for the reigning Cy Young winner. He's 30 and has always had amazing stuff. All-time leader in MLB history for K/9 (1000+ IP). If he's really fixed his issue with walks, that contract is a steal.

Better than the Angels, Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox, Giants. Man they are having rough offseasons.

Delete Ray from that. But yeah, that mixed with Semien, Calhoun, and Gray puts them close to the Angels. If you're a Rangers fan, its like christmas.

Astros can't afford any injuries this year and the division has gotten tougher. It's arguably one of the tougher division next to the AL East.

I would have loved to have Ray at that price.

Well, that’s one good reason for a mediocre team to spend $500M. I think it sucks. Why play 162 only to render it mostly meaningless.

4 rounds of playoffs is a lot for a season that’s already 2 weeks too long.

At this point, just copy the NBA format. 8 teams per. Have a play in tournament for the final seeds. Make them all 7 game series.

Eh - this is part of the negotiating process. MLBPA rejected expanded playoffs this past year. Each side will propose a bunch of stuff they don't care *that* much about and then be able to use that as leverage to trade away for other things. I wouldn't read too much into all the random things that will get proposed (by both sides) in the short term.

So much overpayment and too-long contracts. There will be some disappointed teams in a few years. Did no one learn from Anaheim's mistakes?
