Did I fail to mention that I have been warming up to them? I can cool off too, depending on their moves. This really isnt Rocket Science. And you are not Perry Mason.
Just trying to understand your position. Seems you are more onboard when the FO wants to follow your path. Just let chips fall, amirite?
Of course! Aren't you? You're really obtuse man. Or you're just really bad trying to get your point across.
ahh got ya. i need to follow him on there. IG is the only social (besides linked) I have these days deleted the others years ago. i have followed Green already.
Wrong. I think Simmons is a risk worth taking and to build a championship contender you are going to have to take some risks. The moves are good but results matter in the end. It's like crossing someone over with a flashy move and then missing the shot rarely makes your highlight film. I like the moves but this is really Stone's first year on his own, as in his first full year with 0 Morey influence...I'm waiting to see the results. It looks good now but I'll be convinced when I see the results is all. Also, Kings are low-key picking up good prospects as well, I wouldn't be so quick to mock them personally. Well, I think being in a wait and see mode is fair. What if Evan Mobley turns out to be an MVP player and Green just a bust? What if Green is the only bust out of the top 5 and Sengun is just a meh player? These moves will be judged by hindsight in the end. They look great now, I agree, Stone looks competent, the player development looks competent...but it hasn't led to anything yet so I think it's more than fair to just keep a wait and see about it.
All your arguments for your plan apply to your aversion tanking. Risks.... You've been the one arguing against tanking because of the results of teams like the Kings.... So now the argument has been moved to whether the Rockets are the new, old Kings. Which is why it doesn't make sense to commit to Simmons with so many unknowns.
Actually, if they nailed the Green pick, and I believe they have, they will have done something Morey has never done, draft a championship caliber star.
simmons has so many red flags ...only desperate teams will do business with him.... why so many houston fans want him? its because they are penny-pinchers and that Wall contract is itching them , so in their minds when they imagine swapping that monstrosity of a contract and old player for a younger player with potential however doubtful feels good in comparison garuba is a better player simmons already and dont even start me on Sengod
Can Garuba teach Simmons? No offense to Garuba but Simmons is already one of the best defenders in the league AND he is an elite NBA passer. Learning to shoot is really the only thing holding him back from being a top 5 player in the league.
if you cant score youre passing is worth nothing and if your offense is worth nothing then you defense is also worth nothing winning teams dont have much of a use for deeply flawed players there are around 200 players in nba (and thousands around the world) that if they just learned how to shoot they would be elite nba players...and vice versa...so yeah.... BACK to garuba, explain why simmons is better than garuba? garuba is already elite defensively, hes solid passer, ball handler, can run the break, hes also hitting 3s in practice, hes 7 years younger than simmons, 10 times cheaper, and no history of being a headcase and diva, no history of multiple playoffs failures and malfunctions... so who would you rather have on your roster and devoted your PT and coaches time developing?
Garuba hasn't played a single minute in the NBA yet. Let that sink in - love our rooks, but let's not be crazy here and equate potential to actual achievement. By that logic, I'm even 10 times cheaper than Garub "and no history of being a headcase and diva, no history of multiple playoffs failures and malfunctions..." and Garuba and I have proven about the same thing playing NBA games so far. Simmons has already proved he is an elite defending, passing, and rebounding guard in the NBA if nothing else. Ben Wallace is in the HOF with no offensive game to speak of just for being an elite defender and rebounder. He's got a title too. Also Rajon Rondo continues to be picked up by winning teams despite no offensive skill set and a similar skill set to Simmons - dude has two titles. Get out of here with your revisionist history of what it takes to win titles combined with your extreme optimism around practice heroes. There are videos of Simmons draining 3s in practice too. Not even interested in debating with macho hot take bros who think they know the makeup of true winners. So tired of that cliche....sooo tired.
Like you Glimmer. There was that time CP3 nutmegged Garuba. His 36-minutes stats: http://bkref.com/pi/shareit/AOOFO But yes, he has played only garbage time. Just the stats, the true stats and nothing but the stats
This was in the Paolo vs Chet thread but just wanted to give the GARM a heads up. Chet is playing UCLA right now and also mark your calendars Duke vs Gonzaga Nov. 26th Chet V. Paolo
