I would actually take this back in a heartbeat over the Texans and Reliant Staduim!!! I miss the Oilers and the House of Pain!!!
I've "moved on", but the Oilers' leaving will never be reconcilable in my book. I'm with Bobblehead above, I'd take the Oilers every day of the week and twice on Sunday over the Texans. Maybe I'm so shallow that that would be different were the Texans winning, but the Oilers were my team--they hooked me on NFL football. If I think about it too long, I get angry all over again.
when i see the old pictures...or highlights from old games...man. i don't want to be overly dramatic about it...but it's like an old friend died or something. this thing you grew up with and cared so much about is just gone.
Don't make me mad on Sunday bro. There's just something intrinsically wrong about getting mad on Sunday.
man i thought the oilers were going to do it, with the buddy ryan defense. wilbur marshall. we got the chiefs and an old (he should retire) joe montana. oh the days pre-clutchcity rockets.
anyone hear gumble call andre johnson an oiler before quickly correcting himself and call him a texan in the pro bowl yesterday? #34, the greatest number in houston history
Yes, there was hope but then we would remember they're the Oilers and they absolutely, positively would definitely would find a way to screw it up! Add, a largely derisive national TV audience to view the carnage and you have yourself one bizarre BBQ viewing. They weren't masochistic, they were cannibalistic with their playoff collapses. National TV announcers would almost have to stifle laughter when talking about the Oilers and playoffs in the same sentence. Ah yes, those were the days ...
Hey, I can make your pain worse. There was a stout rumor going around several years ago that Bill Walsh was the runner-up choice when Sid Gilman replaced himself as interim coach after he fired Bill Peterson. I forget who he replaced himself with (for the moment). Do you think the Oilers would have left Houston if Bill Walsh had been there head coach from the mid-70's forward?
