Glad to hear it, let's just hope the bandwagoners aren't out in April and back in by August next year!
But that's what they *will* do, by definition. If noone's in and out all year, there are no bandwaggoners. Actually, bandwaggoning doesn't bother me so much as whining. I can handle a little bandwaggoning a lot better than the endless drone, or drip if you will, of whining.
I actually agree with this to a degree. In baseball, most people start the season off full of hope and I can completely understand people not wanting to waste their time watching a 15-30 squad. Now, there are those who don't watch a team until they're good, and that annoys me, but I can completely understand people who decide to do something else with their time when the team stinks. I agree wholeheartedly about the whining. Especially when the team's on the verge of making the playoffs. Hell, even when you're in a playoff chase. Enjoy the ride, people!!
does anyone know if it is true that the nats are going to be benching a lot of thte starters? because if this is true, i expect the phillies to sweep them. that means we still gotta win 2 games. lets not get too excited yet... but i am sure ready to start celebrating the post season!
Woo hoo. Great season. One of the more meorable seasons ever. You may have watched the greatest pitching performance in history by three future HOF'ers. Let's see how far they can take us now.
While this statement is quite aggressive considering the careers of AP and RoyO, I hope that the next 5 to 10 years makes it a reality!
I'd like to say I "called" it.... but even I (the endless "drayton apologist", or "blind homer") had some serious doubts about this team when they were 15-30, and could not score even one run for the greatest active living pitcher. I guess it goes back to the original point I made way before the season started... there has never been, in the history of baseball, a truly bad team that had great pitching (no matter what their offense was). Also, the major questions I had before the season were answered... would Pettite hold up, would Lidge duplicate his greatness over an entire season, and would either Ensberg or Lane have a big season. I thought if those requirements were met, all other things being equal to expectations, this team would be just fine. Now, granted, had they continued to hit like they were when they were 15-30, they would have been the first to challenge my above theory... but luckily this game has a pretty cool way of getting everything evened out.
I learned that LAST year. By the way, I never doubted them! Now all we need is a Morgan walk off homer, ala Kent, and this season is just as exciting!
The only thing better than this teams run to the top of the Wild Card Standings is being able to watch them almost everynight on FSN Houston via DirecTV up here in Dallas!! I hope the same holds for the Rockets' games this year. I would be one VERY happy Houston sports fan if that was the case!! The only negative is that my first semster in my EMBA program is now officially screwed.... too many important games to miss out on
I only ask for one more wish the rest of the season: Game 6, NLCS, Top of 9th, Tie Score, Runners at Second and Third, Berkman at bat.
http://houston.astros.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/multimedia/tp_archive.jsp?c_id=hou&ym=200410 I just watched some of the replays from last october....damn. I am really pumped right now, that walk off HR by Kent was amazing.
I was at Buffalo Wild Wings in Pasadena with Harrisment and about 1000 other people, when that happened all hell broke loose... people were throwing beer all over the place, dancing on the tables... twas a great time indeed.
lol.... I was at the Wet Spot on West Grey when I saw the Kent game winner. That whole place went ape **** too. Being at a sports bar with other fans really adds to the experience. Of course being at the actual game would be better though.
I was at Live and couldn't move. Everyone around me was going ape****, but I just couldn't believe that we were one game away from the World Series, so I just sat there with my hands on my head staring at the screen in disbelief. Then I called my buddy's phone to leave him a crazy message since he was overseas. I just got chills.
I was at MMP...my son on my shoulders...sitting about 5 rows or so behind backe's dad, who was crying his eyes out.....it was unreal
The Braves' record is not much better than the Stros AND the Braves have weaker pitching. Astros in 5
Well we did have that unbelievable Biggio game-winning blast earlier in the year. But yeah that wasnt quite like the Kent dinger
