    Congrats to the Marlins.

Josh Beckett is the man. What a performance.

At least I can take solice in the fact that it was a Spring boy who beat the Yankees (I'm a class of '80 Spring alum).

You never know Astro's fans. Depending on how things go, Pettitte might be in an Astro's jersery next year!

Hard to believe that this franchise already has 2 world series titles. And the last 3 champions have been the Diamondbacks, Angels, and Marlins. The astros time is coming....

Congrats, Marlins. I said not too long before the NLDS was over that the Marlins looked like a team of destiny. Way to prove me right, Florida!

that sounds so excellent anytime someone mentions "champions" and not "yankees" in the same sentence.

Awesome, Class of 1997 here. I saw the Josh several times in the hallways, but I don't really remember him. He was just some skinny/tall kid... He built his parents a really nice house not too far away from mine, he's a good guy.

I remember when I was a Senior he was carrying our baseball team into the playoffs, they rode him like the Oilers rode Earl. ;)

My brother was in the same class as Beckett. Of course now that he is bigtime everyone around here knows him...

Beckett was awesome, one of the best playoff performances I've ever seen. Dominating.

Great...The Marlins have more playoff series wins than the Astros have playoff game wins...

Oh, sorry...They have as many playoff series victories as the Astros have playoff game victories....

Still depression, no matter how you look at it...

OOPS! Make that "depressing" instead of "depression"...

I think I'll go kill myself now. :(

Props to the Marlins, they earned it.

On a down note, KTRH reported this morning that this year's World Series TV ratings were the 3rd lowest in history.

agreed it's still depressing...but i'm not sure that's entirely accurate, either.

we won at least 1 game against the Phillies in the playoffs in 80 (didn't we?)

we won 2 games against the mets in 86

we won at least 1 game in 98

we won at least 1 game in 99

not a stellar record, to be sure...but i still think your statement is inaccurate.

A-Train -- wait!! you're right! my bad...i don't know why, but i was thinking about old school playoffs where the Marlins would only have to win 2 series to win the championship. so i was thinking they have 4 playoff series wins...they have 6...so i think you're right.

    as you say...depressing :(

You think it's bad now, wait until George takes over the baseball side of operations (Cashman's gone, think Jerry Jones pre-Tuna).
