Not that I think it's a big deal, but that would be as if he had said Pah-ree for Paris. Just sounds like you're trying too hard.
lol mccain already rolled out the "john, you're right" ads. i love it. can't wait for obama to respond to this. if obama plays it right, he can come out looking presidential in response to this ad.
Anyone who thinks the surge is the main reason for the decline in violence in Iraq has not done their research. It is much more about the militias laying down their arms and helping the security forces rat out Al queida than it does with the surge. But, saying that, looks bad, and I think Obama knows that. DD
you thought obama was going to win a debate on foreign policy "easily"? either shows how little faith you have in your candidate, or how disingenuous you are.
Obama is way more articulate and better at speech. i always thought McCain isn't very good at public speaking. anyways, just my expectation before the debate. i guess i was off.
I think they agree virtually completely on Iraq at this point. Obama has had roughly 4 different views on Iraq, and I don't think he wants to bring that out.
I suggest we renegotiate our agreement, and start holding them accountable for the safe haven that Al-Qaeda is receiving. Obama is absolutely correct, and his the policy he advocates has been responsible for killing off top Al-Qaeda leaders. If killing Bin Laden, and other Al-qaeda leaders upsets Pakistan then so be it. The U.S. does not need to be held hostage by Pakistan.
Weslinder, are you judging this using your grade book, or how you feel the population will grade the debate? I can't see the general population not being pro-'pull the trigger if OBL/al qaeda is in an available target and Pakistan is unwilling to attack.' I'll confess to not being in my seat the entire time, so maybe I missed something, but I don't' recall hearing anything about going against the will of Pakistan, just that Obama would be willing to strike Bin Laden if Pakistan wasn't. But, even if it was 'pull the trigger against the will of Pakistan', I have a hard time imagining that not resonating well w/ the population.
And I think John said x5 not in just one instance but several occasions that the "fundamentals of our economy our strong"
McCain was the favorite going into tonight, the next two favor Obama. Obama wanted to take on foreign policy first because of the trend that the first debate is watched the most and Obama wanted to take that opportunity to show he could take McCain to task.
no no no, i don't think people will be pissed for trying to get Bin Laden. but the fact that you did it without their permission. that's totally disrespectful. how do you hold them accountable? it's not like they will falter without the US aid. they did fine before that. how about helping them develop the areas that are lawless? when the people there have a better life, things are going to be much better.
mccain isn't good at speaking in front of a large crowd (like at the convention). he loves the debate where it's more to a small audience, which is where obama struggled with before. so compound those facts (that it was on foreign policy), this should have been a slam dunk for mccain and save a bad week for him.
