I liked the fact that Obama said he will repair U.S's image, I think Obama will be better suited to be able to accomplish that than McCain, you can tell in his style of talking he's good at finding common ground...as shown in this debate.
lol... i loved the quote by McCain when he said like......even osama bin ladin agrees that the center of the war should be fought in Iraq.......of COURSE HE'S GONNA SAY THAT! Why would he say it should be fight in the mountainous region of Pakistan near the border with Afghanistan, where he is....i wish i had the exact quote. THINK JOHN. you're a POW! You should know the enemy doesnt want you where he is.
i would say starting the war was wrong, but pulling out now is also wrong. two wrongs don't make it right. but you don't need to start another conflict in another region. it's very easy to stir up hatred.
Current post-debate unscientific polls: CNN: 67-28 Obama MSNBC: 49-37 Obama Couldn't quickly find ones on CBS, ABC, or FOX News.
I think that Obama and McCain both had their moments, but it is so clear how different they are, and that Obama has a vastly different approach to foreign policy. Obama was also 100% more gracious and said "Good job John" when it was over and he and his wife walked across the stage to congratulate McCain and his wife. THAT is Presidential. McCain....just lost this election....this was his strong suite, and he should have knocked it out of the park, instead, he bristled and grinned his way in uncomfortable situations. Obama...was much better...much much better. DD
LOL. People asking why CNN interviewed Biden and not Palin. Blitzer basically says it's not for lack of trying. Hmmm...I wonder....
lol, 3 editors on the wall street jounral on fox news said mccain came out on top big tonight. lol, these are the same 3 people who said palin is a great candidate.
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=151816 Pakistanis have been helping as much as they can, and the people see us as unappreciative. We don't have to invade Islamabad to piss off Pakistani people, and if we do piss them off, we lose an ally. With Obama espousing the Bush Doctrine, we run that risk.
Not that this means anything. But if you have to get some meaning out of it, one guy sounds like he's more likely to reach across the aisle.
what mccain supporters have to fear is that this was the debate most people thought he would OWN, on foreign policy. but yet, generally, it's a draw. i thought obama won pretty decisively for the fact that he showed he was extremely presidential.
Again, Obama has not espoused invading Pakistan. Pakistan is a crappy ally, and to keep the status quo with them as an ally is unacceptable.
To the posters here, should I ignore what bigtexxx says? Truly no offense to bigtexxx, I don't hang around D&D often, but if you're THAT type of poster on political topics, I'd rather know now.
I'm sorry bigtexxx, but I'm assuming you do not travel outside the states much. ALL of the world pronounces Pakistan the way Obama pronounces it. Only Mccain, Bush and most of the south pronounce it the way you refer to. In fact, it sounds quite "hickish" when someone pronounces foreign countries with the ending -tan or -aq with that certain slang. I cringe when people say "I-Rok"....
and you know obama loves that to come out. he'll simply respond: the reason obama will make a better president b/c he's able to sit down and acknowledge what his opponents have to say. i'm bipartisan and i respect what others have to say. i think people who think this is a bad thing for obama is wrong. obama said he wants to restore america's image tonight. what better way than to have a president who's able to sit down and talk with foreign leaders without being so contentious.
