Man, all you guys just killed Burt Reynolds' mustache. Sounds like we gotta buncha nancy-boys in here...
Damn y'all. A clean-shaven Burt isn't nearly as cool. As for me, I drink: Wine - pretty much only reds and preferably cabs. Whites are way too sweet for me. Beer - I've yet to meet a beer I don't like. Stouts are favored, though I still love lagers and ales. Hoppyness = happiness. Whiskey - preferably scotch, and neat at that, but I like whiskey period.
I primarily stick to beer. I do drink my margaritas on the rocks. I love a jack/beam/crown & coke. For as long as I've drank whiskey & coke, I just can't get used to the taste of straight whiskey. Good whiskey tastes even better to me with coke (no, not the Stevie Ray Vaughn variety). However, I will never ever drink a mixed drink with Pepsi again. That is simply an abomination. I've tried to like wine, but they all taste the same to me.
That would be my suggestion as well. Also if you have a good liquor store nearby a wine steward is also a great source of information and can suggest wines to try.
Good list, pretty much spot on. Even though I prefer my magaritas on the rocks, there's nothing wrong with drinking a frozen one IMO (unless its a some kind of strawberry magarita or something). I just started drinking scotch the last 6 months or so but I wish I didn't, scotch on the rocks is unstoppable!
I'm spot on in this list...except for my wine game. It just seems like a daunting subject to tackle but I'm trying. I'm all about scotch, whiskey, good (Belgian) beers...the basic Manhattan (up) is my drink of choice. I have to agree w/ the margarita sentiment here though. Rule 3 should also include Mexican restaurants. It just seems right to have a margarita (frozen or not), forget the crappy Coronas. Especially here in Florida (and I'm sure you Texans) you are going to end up in plenty of Mexican restaurants and have a round of margaritas. And while my habits are in line w/ the list, a real man doesn't give a crap about stupid lists and will get an umbrella in his drink if pleases. That doesn't mean I won't have a quick chuckle inside, but go for it.
Chuck Norris decided that everclear was too weak for his ironclad liver. He drinks gasoline. Leaded gasoline.
I drink whiskey and whisky neat or on the rocks. I prefer my ritas with cubes. I went to the Boonville Beer Festival in Mendocino county last Saturday. Basically a beer festival for all of the best brewerys on the Left Coast. There are some damn fine breweries out here. Speekeasy Brewing, 21st Amdendment brewing, Rubicon, and Russian River brewing companies make some pretty amazing IPAs. I like my beer hoppy. Then went to Navarro Vineyards on Sunday. They make some very nice Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. As far as the commandments go, Martinis are disgusting.
