I actually can't believe I have to spell this out for you. I'll do it step by step for you.

In the off-season Harden is a free agent
We have Fred VanVleet who plays the same position
Clippers want to not lose somebody for nothing
Harden agrees to this magical concept called a "sign and trade"
We send FVV to the Clippers to cushion the blow from losing Harden. We could even throw Brooks in to clear space for our logjam whilst giving them extra defense
We can pay more to Harden and still pay less than our 2 overpaid "vets."

INSANE wizardry! I can't believe this magic is possible?! How did he do that?!!! HOLY **** BALLS!

Zubac scored over 20 points for the 3rd straight game and is currently averaging 23 ppg on the season

Harden assisted on 6 of his 10 made field goals last night

Sengun meanwhile is averaging 16 ppg on 40% shooting so far this season playing with “Steady Freddy”

that mediocre as hell Clippers roster barely lost to the Suns and beat the Nuggets and Warriors on the road in a B2B…we’re out here losing to the Hornets and Spurs

every day I’m reminded just how goofy this thread is

“they don’t call him Steady Freddy for nothing”…

Loved Harden when he was here but the guy isn’t a leader of men let alone a good teacher. He could score 40 points whenever he wants but that’s not what this team was looking for last year and I’m glad we have Fred for this last season. He won’t be here after the summer. Handing James the keys again is straight up Regarded

my favorite excuse is when people act like Harden would take away opportunities from the young guys

    Zubac is averaging 23 ppg

Norman Powell is averaging 25 ppg on 17 shots

these aren’t stars Harden has no choice but to defer to, they’re bonafide role players

Derrick Jones Jr is averaging a career high in ppg right now on 67% shooting

    with Harden here

    Sengun - 25, 12, and 4 on 58% shooting

    Jalen - 23, 5, and 4 on 45/36/80

    Harden - 18 and 11 on 60% TS

Jabari - 15 and 8 on 48% from the field and 37% from three

Amen getting easy dunks and alley oops like Derrick Jones Jr has been getting

Harden would be having post-practice shooting drills and education sessions with Reed Sheppard and Jalen Green

Rockets would win 48-50 games and be a 5th or 6th seed

that “cancer” has somehow never missed the playoffs regardless of his supporting cast ever in his career

the nba media picked the clippers to finish as the 13th seed in the west this year

I think the Clips are above the 2nd apron so they can't do a sign and trade

To me, the Rockets logic for choosing FVV over Harden has never been about the player-to-player comparison, but the idea that Harden would detract from Jalen Green's development while FVV would be a helpful hand in it. In terms of playstyle, this has very much brought out to bare, as FVV has been great at both playing on-ball and off-ball while being an excellent 3pt shooter to space the floor. In that sense, the Rockets absolutely made the correct choice.

However, the issue with FVV is that Jalen Green, unfortunately, has not really developed as much as the Rockets hoped or needed. While at the same time, Jalen Green being featured prominently has not really led to the growth of the other Rockets players. And it's certainly reasonable to question if Harden being the driver of this offense would've led to better development of Jabari, Sengun, Tari, and Amen due Harden's gravity and superior playmaking. And that perhaps the Rockets are focusing way too much on Jalen's development that it's adversely affecting other players.

At the time, I was all for FVV over Harden. But if we don't see much growth from the young players this year, I think one should question if the front office is as good as a lot of fans think they are.

Folks still buthurt about harden would rather fvv dribble the ball with a shtty offense than let harden elevate our team.

It's astounding the gap is between the two in terms of playmaking. Everybody on the team suffers from it bc fvv lacks the ability to utilize anybody skillset.

This is like kpj pg debacle all over again. Where everybody looks like sht and the offense is basic as fk. U figured fvv would utilize pnr, alley oops or cuts, nah. It's just toss it to an open shooter and pray that they make it.

Paying 40 mil for culture and the inability to make sengun or any of the youngsters shine.

I cant blame Udoka or Tilman really

To me it was ime udoka trying to get back on the medias good side after that whole "celtics scandal." Im sure udoka wanted harden cause udoka was with harden in brooklyn when harden was the frontrunner for mvp in 2021 but people forget at that time it was analysts in the media claiming that harden joining the rockets would be a sign that ime udoka did not learn from his issues in boston. People like nick wright, sas, and chris broussard were saying that harden was going to be a bad influence on the young rockets talent

In my opinion the media had more to do with harden not coming to houston than udoka or even tillman did. Harden because of his off-the court escapades is just a lightning rod for criticism. And when you factor that in plus the timing and the backlash of the udoka hiring at the time.. it was something the media was ready to pounce on and the rockets caved

Every single "ring chase" roster had unavailable/injury riddled costars missing a lot of games.

Cuz you of course gotta watch the Clippers to know their record.... Or understand that I was saying they would have a worse record with White.

He's a better and more impactful player than White and that's with his shooting being ass through 3 games... he's still an elite playmaker and knows how to get to the line... He's shooting poorly, but getting to the line 10 game and making 90% of his FTs through three games. Harden's shooting efficiency will obviously go up significantly and level out as the season continues... And White's shooting percentages will come down significantly as well as his scoring.

I used to hate the idea of having Harden again because I thought he would play his selfish style of iso ball but after watching him mentor Maxey and now the Clippers, it changed my mind. I think Harden would be an even better mentor to Reed and other young players on this team. It's too bad there's no point of even discussing this since we are locked into FVV and Clippers are locked into Harden unless some weird trade happens (unlikely because I dont think Ime like Harden).

I swear harden haters say the stupidest sht.

Really remind me of the time they proclaim that they would rather watch us lose playing as a team over having harden control the offense.

It's probably too late for a Harden reunion, but anyone trying to convince folks that fvv was still the better choice is just straight up coping.

If fvv finish the season as the starting pg, season is already over.
