I am thinking of getting a street bike. Looking at Kawasaki's. Anyways, wait one more year and the Hybrid GMC SIERRA comes out.
Don't you just love how the high prices return just in time for the spring break and summer vacation heavy travel times? How ironic. It's almost like the energy companies KNEW we'd be driving more.
well, this might have a little to do with that. http://msnbc.msn.com/id/5612507/ "Crude oil hits a new high, topping $57" blah, all that for a barrel of oil that takes about 50 cents to produce.
There might be some relief in the future (probably not near future though) Senate OKs move to drill oil in Alaska http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/mld/myrtlebeachonline/news/nation/11156826.htm
I was eyeing a 2005 Kawasaki ZX6-R this weekend. It looks amazing in person. I wish I could test drive one.
Wait, so with less demand and the same supply, the price would go sky rocket? Some how none of my economic classes seems to teach me that way.........
and on the way from houston to austin, i refused to stop at a station until i found one under $2.00 for regular. i stopped at a $1.99 station. of course, 20 miles later in giddings (which i could've probably barely made with the last bit left in my tank) it was $1.87. that was 7 cents cheaper than anywhere else and way down from the $2.06 i saw at one place. what's up with giddings having much cheaper gas than anywhere else? something tells me my next fill up will involve $2.00 gas for the first time in my life. at least the corolla gets 28 mpg.
I'm not in houston, but I will be soon, I'm just glad my 1990 Toyota Corolla 5 speed gets about 40 on the highway
My wiife has a Prius. I've driven it have never been "run over" on the freeway, so that's not an excuse.
This is nothing compared to the 1970's. Back in the 1970's, we actually had "odd and even days", where you were only allowed to fill up on one or the other. Gas station attendants were actually shot by angry customers because they would not let "Evens" fill up on "Odd" days and vice versa. Similarly, there were incidents of customers shooting one another our of rage while standing in line to buy gas on their respective days. We haven't reached the point of the 1970's yet
There are several things that make gas high right now. 1. It is Spring Break and summer months coming up: They raise prices because demand is higher. 2. In the Spring, all the gas companies have to switch to a more efficient blend that is more expensive to produce so the price is higher. 3. Oil is the highest its ever been.
I know I'm getting a hybrid one day for commuting, the fuel efficiency is amazing (save money for fun) and I don't have the need or insecurity issues that would lead me to buy a SUV. I don't buy the argument that prices will go up if everyone buys a hybrid because in our culture, never will everyone buy a hybrid. Besides, the action of saving energy costs supports the troops more than a bumper sticker on a Explorer. Also, in Europe, where I think gas is $5+ a gallon, most people have converted to fuel efficiency out of necessity, we didn't have the option of super-efficient cars back in the 70's.
Yes, when ANWR is up and running, the price of crude may decrease by up to 50 cents, which means you may in fact save a few cents per gallon. Get out your piggy banks, because you are going to be swimming in it.
Yeah, I have read quite a bit of material that says there is only enough oil in ANWR to last for about 2-3 years of drilling. Plus, the way things work, American consumers probably won't even get the oil drilled in ANWR, IIRC.
