As mentioned in another thread, why would they even be thinking about firing him if he's doing what they want him to do?

I dont mind the losing. The Sengun minutes are a small problem for me (especially the 5 min one). My problem is that there's almost no accountability. Especially for his vets. He just loves his vets. D.House did stupid **** after stupid **** for 10 straight games and still had his spot in the rotation over KMJ who was a FAT + every time he was on the floor.

Silas went with his Theis,Wood,Tate lineup late in a game that was close ( I think it was Denver) and the moment i saw it i said "we're going to lose this lead and we're going to lose the game and of course i was right. His in-game decision making is bad. His rotations are bad.

Now here comes the part where you might have a point. If he is forced to do all that then shame on the Rockets for making him look so incredibly incompetent. But unfortunately he's the coach so the terrible decisions are his fault, order from above or not.

I know you might not think of me as a good poster or whatever but one thing you should know is that I'm not a fan of generic takes and not a kneejerk artist. This opinion has been formed over a ton of games (i watch ALL of them, as you probably do.)

Death rate amongst the rest of the league could save the rockets

KJ cant shoot which is why House as out there. But it takes time to figure out the right lineups.

Because Thesis was actually playing well that game and was playing defense on Jokic

We dont know unfortunately, it could be that he's simply incompetent.

Nah dont worry about that man. You are a fine poster and we disagree on somethings but thats part of the fun of the forums. But you are good guy and arent disrespectful That's why I like @JayGoogle despite us disagreeing on things.

Some people take sports talk too seriously lol. It's nice to know some posters don't.

Helps to have perspective. We are grown dudes (I assume, there are some ladies here) talking about a game other grown dudes play. To get legit angry at people for disagreeing on something is a little off for me.

It's cool to disagree. Sometimes I'm wrong and sometimes I'm right. Happens to the best of us!

The only stat I am looking to save the Rockets is that the 3 worst teams have the best chance at the #1 pick.

That conclusion is beautiful written. If you ask me, it seems like we got a new coach by ignoring our GM. @Reeko can you confirm?

It is. This is a great, and depressing, quote. The part I bolded is utterly damning, in my opinion. Kudos to @foggy94 for pointing it out, and much else. I wonder how this 5 game stretch compares, and if there are significant differences (and I suspect that there are), what are they?

"Houston leads the league at shots at the rim, with a 41% frequency, but this is still only a small section of the offense. This number is a percentage of shots taken, not possessions. Yes, a large portion of Houston’s shots come at the rim, that is good. But despite leading the league in pace, Houston takes the third fewest shots per game in the NBA. Do you know how difficult that is to do? When you turn the ball over at such a historically high rate, it really doesn’t matter what you do on the possessions you actually finish. Per 100 possessions, Houston is dead last in shot attempts."

We have to show patience as fans. It's up to the players, coaches and management to improve the team. There is some hope though, because we are improving.

Essentially we benched or had some injuries to players that were inefficient and replaced them with players that could hit that 3, and play defense.

Not shocking that our results would improve.

Mathews and Ego shooting those 3s, instead of Green and Theis........is anyone really shocked that we are much much better???

One thing that has improved, and it doesn't seem to be related is our turnovers are way down, when KPJ was the main culprit, not sure why he has fewer TO's now with the new group?

because he is incredibly new to being a PG and is improving? Just a crazy thought….

It also certainly doesn’t hurt that we went from playing some of the best defenses in the league to some of the worst.

It has improved slightly. We're 24th in shots per100. However, our FTA have gone down which might explain most of that (shooting fouls don't count as FGA if it doesn't go in).

The biggest thing we have changed is playing 3 point shooters. And those shooters are shooting abnormally well. We're 2nd in attempts and 6th in conversion. That's always a deadly combination.

The shooting will regress. Garrison Matthews is shooting 46% on 3s on 8 attempts per game. Brooks 40%, Eric Gordon 46%, Christian Wood 47%.

Thanks for the excellent reply. I agree with you that the shooting will regress, but perhaps not in unison. ;-)

    Spacing matters.

And adding players that can hit 3 instead of trying to drive into a crowded paint helps too.

Turnovers are down team wide past 5 wins, let's not forget it was more than just KPJ handing out gifts like it was Christmas.

3 starters shooting 40% or better from 3P makes a HUGE difference.

And 2 rotation players (Brooks and Augustine) shooting 40% or better as well is amazing.

Need to keep riding it while it lasts.
