I guess Sacremento should be losing because of all their injuries, or maybe Indiana and their youth should be losing too.

No? Why not? Oh, because they are WELL coached and carry on in spite of all the injuries and youth.

Currently, the Rockets are an underacheiving team, like it or not.

They should not lose the Cleveland, Memphis, Clippers x2, Golden State, Atlanta...etc..etc...

They are an unmotivated bunch, and their head coach has ZERO balls, or else he would have sat some of them on the bench until they play ball the RIGHT way.

Rudy is going to be out of a job because he is not forceful enough.

Look: I can't take this crap anymore. I love me some Rockets. But this is absolutely positively the last year I'll tolerate being out of the playoffs.

 

Good point, DaDakota. Motivation is not the problem here. We need some disciplines. We need a kick-ass coach who doesn't tolerate incompetence. We need a coach who doesn't accept losing gracefully. In short, we need an antithesis of Rudy-ism.

Sacramento isn't young with the exception if Mike Bibby. They are a team full of veterans. Indiana is in the eastern conference playing all of those weak eastern conference teams twice as many times as we play them. If the Rockets were in the eastern conference I sincerely believe they'd have a record similiar to that of Indiana or Detroit. But lets look at a few other facts about Indiana:

1. They have a real veteran team leader in Reggie Miller.
2. Their young star, Jermaine O'Neal is a 6 year veteran now. Despite the fact he and Steve Francis are the same age, Jermaine O'neal has twice the NBA experience and has played behind Rasheed Wallace deep into the playoffs.
3. Unfortunately, I do think there may be some validity in the claim that Isiah being their coach helps because most of their team grew up idolizing players like Isiah Thomas. Nobody on the Rockets can remember when Tomjanovich was a player and sometimes I fear that makes him harder to take seriously for these players. It helps his jersey is hanging from the rafters, but sometimes I think I'd like to see Tomjanovich promoted to GM and a new coach brought in. I go back and forth on that though because I'm a huge supporter of Tomjanovich and I think he's done alot of great things for the Rockets franchise in his 33 years or so with the Rockets. (it blows my mind the man has been with the rockets for 7 more years than I've been alive)

 

These excuses don't explain why the Rockets suck. It can explain why they would not go deep in the playoffs, or why they can't be a top 5 seed team, but it can't explain why they suck this bad.

 

Indiana plays in the East. Plus, the Rockets are not 'losing'--they have a winning record. Sacramento IS losing because of injuries--6 out of their last 10 and SA passed them. Portland is right on them. Rick Adelman wasn't so hot when he coached Golden State, was he? His first two years at Sac produced a winning percentage about what the Rockets have now. Gee, could it be that he has better players now? I wonder.

Um, no, they're not.

If they didn't lose to those teams they'd be the best team in the NBA. Is that what people expect? I wouldn't doubt it.

There's the feeling in some circles that putting your best players on the bench reduces your chances of winning. This isn't Little Dribblers. Bill Fitch tried that crap and the players REFUSED to re-enter the game. PJ Carlesimo got ASSAULTED for being 'tough'. Pat Riley's methods have worked great the last few years too. George Karl is getting there too. That style doesn't work. Welcome to the NBA.

It couldn't be said much better, I agree totally, if we can't trade for a player like Brand without giving up Yao or Steve then this is definitely the next best thing to do. Even if we do make a trade I would still be for it! As much as I like Rudy, I just can't stand, as DD said, that he has absolutely NO BALLS!

The sooner Rudy is outta the job, the sooner we're in the playoffs.

You know jmwilliamson, I was going to post a reply to this "damn mad fan of an undeserving team", but you took the words right out of my mouth. Tigermission, get the hell out and walk out on them with the rest of the cursing fans. You are the definition to fair-weathered.
I couldn't have said it any better jmwilliamson. A team that was picked to finish 9th or 10th in the west, is suddenly undeserving because they are losing their grip of a playoff spot with an entire half of a season left. Playoffs?? If we do make it, great, but we're not going to advance far this early. I'm not even going to beat the horse and try to convince people that patience is needed, it's pointless. When this team is ready next year to truly make a statement, don't come back Tigermission.

 

lol, hope he didn't mean that because moochie is a career backup. van exel is better than him. heck, even avery johnson is better at running the offense and on fast break.

Point one: I am a fan and I am not ready to break up the team.

Breaking up the damn team is by far the worst thing that we could do! I know that it is difficult in the minds of all of us watching the games and sometimes I too have thought about breaking the team up. But that idea leaves my mind soon because I realize that there was no way the Rockets are gonna win the championship this year. We have the talent, we have the determination, we have the youth, now the only thing that we are missing is the chemistry, and how do we achieve that chemistry..............T I M E together. If you were expecting the ROX to win it all this year or even end up in the top three in the West than I'm sorry but I think that you need to re-examine your realistic mindset. The Rox are right on track where they should be, fighting for the playoffs in the west. However I am telling you if management thought the same way some of our fans do and the did split up the Rockets, then it would be a huge travesty. To put in another light, the Rockets are like a seed. We already have all of the right conditions for the seed to grow (youth, talent, heart) but some of you want to rip this seed right out of the ground before it can even root because it has not grown into a tree yet. The only thing we can to now is to be patient and let the seed grow into a mighty Oak. Time is the only thing we need!

What should their record be? 30 wins? 35 wins? Are they really as good as Dallas or the Kings?
