Something of note from windandsea's second article: The article was written September 21, 2001. So, in the past 8 months, Yao has added 31 pounds to his current 296-pound frame. Therefore, there is no reason to think that he is stuck at 296. He's been adding bulk at a rapid clip the past year -- and that was before working with American strength coaches. Scratch one more myth (that he's not capable of bulking up) from the Ming-hater's list. Oh, and the article also states that he's been studying English since he was 12.
windandsea, any other (Chinese) posters who feel comfortable talking about the positions of the Sharks, CBA, or other Chinese officials who might be involved in all this, I think many of us could REALLY use your opinions on this, what the Sharks may want, what the national team commitments are likely to involve (I know this has been discussed already, and I can go look it up, but if you're feeling charitable and don't mind recapping, it would be much appreciated) as well as how much Wang's situation is relevant to or affects the situation with Yao.
That Tianamen Square, though horrible, is interesting because I had no idea that happened. I feel for you guys. I am currently taking a sociology class and Im finding out just how corrupt the government can be sometimes. Our professor told us of an incident in where laborists and environmentalists put together in protest against the World Trade Organization. It too was peaceful, but was broken up by corrupt police officials who arrested many protesters, beat them, sprayed some horrible chemicals that were used during the Vietnam War. Somewhat off the topic, but just thought I would mention it.
