but i have gotten this figured out...something bad happens to rox=blame the coach...bad trade or non trade, players play bad, your favorite player doesnt crack the rotation etc...can we at least give coach a a break from that this year...it is on the players to perform...morey has done a great job...adelman will do a great job...we need the players to do a great job. and oh by the way it looks like adelman is going to play rafer big minutes too....he must be a dope as well according to so many here
Haha. Rafer Alston isn't a starter, Francis is a starter, and Landry isn't a rookie. Yeah, it's pretty useless alright.
Off topic here but I wonder if JVG would have ultimately played James more minutes than Rafer, given the threes that were in abundance for the position, or kept Rafer there at heavy minutes and used James less (like at both guard spots). I couldn't help but watch Scola out there tonight, thinking about how James-McGrady-Battier-Scola-Yao seem tailor-made for the defensive mindset and mostly halfcourt offensive sets run last season.
lol how long has rafer been in the league? 1 star everyone has bad shooting nights....rafer seems to have them often
RA will likely play Rafer for as long as the offense is clicking IMO. Aaron Brooks might be better off if he was sent down to the D-League, if anything so that he can have a better chance to play more minutes and develop his game. If he was sent down to the D-League, I would hope that he would not be there for the entire season, but be ready to be called up at least midway through the season. Keep in mind that if Brooks were a few inches taller, he probably would not have been available for the Rockets to select in last summer's NBA Draft.
I think we'll see that lineup a lot this season, starting or not. That group, excepting Yao, who moves well enough for his size, is also a very quick team and everyone can pass the ball. They can play halfcourt and defend, and they can play Adelman's style. What's great is the depth. Just unbelievable. When you think about last season, you have to give it up big time to Morey, and he may not be done.
Anyone Else want to change the thread to things we are happy rafer didnt do recently to name a few: whack mcgrady in the back (If you are a Rockets fan) or learn to shoot this summer (If you aren't a Rockets fan) or slash anyone's neck this offseason (Whoops he did do that one) any other ideas?
Considering that aaron brooks is a rookie that was the 26th pick (and many said should have been lots lower) and is still performing at the same level if not better than the higher pg picks such as mike conley jr and acie law...yea, def not going to give him crap. Saying that though, i'm definitely not saying all the hate towards rafer is warranted...and i'm really hoping for the whole 'he'll fit this offense much better etc etc' thing
The loss of Van Gundy is warping your vision. Why else would you not see the logic in Clutch's words. There are quite a few posters here that are not JVG only lovers or Tmac only fans or YOF's , but are simply Rocket fans who want the Rockets to win it all. There's not an attachment to Aaron Brooks. If he sucks then he needs to be gone. But Rafer has a history of sucking and while he is playing better now he has history of imploding when it counts. Lest you forget the playoffs last season.
I know it is preseason but I think it is interesting that the Rockets had their two worst preseason games when Rafer wasn't playing at all. It was most telling on Tuesday night when most of the regulars played and James started with them and Yao and Tmac had bad outings but James did well offensively but with 0 assists. I'm sure Rafer's shot will go through hard times again throughout the year but hopefully people will see how valuable he really is to this team and will quit harping on him so much.
Two words = It's Preseason Brooks can shoot as poorly as he shoots in preseason. We all know the guy is a rookie but even more than that it is preseason. The season and then playoffs is when it really matters. In Rafer's case, he just needs to strive to be more consistent throughout the season and playoffs for this year, and Aaron needs to adjust to the NBA level style of play especially coming into this league playing the point guard position. We shouldn't make a bad shooting night in a preseason game deeper than what it really is.
