Who cares about where teams are situated at IN JULY.... things change quick in the NBA. Look the Rockets have at least 3 seasons with Dwight, and 5 more with Harden.... they have time to be patient to wait for the right deal, and not rush into a contract for just any marginal upgrade at PF. You never know who is going to shake loose in February. I've wrote before that Asik's value(assuming he does get moved) is going to be best during the season- -after all free agents are off the market -teams figure out that their young bigs look worse in real life than they do at the combine -injuries happen -teams change direction You're going to get a better player and better value at the trade deadline.... and if not, its not like Thaddeus Young is going to be a hot commodity any time soon on that contract. He will still be available then if he's already now.
We need either an excellent stretch 4 who is significantly better than Casspi (and preferably with a good back-up center thrown into the deal), or a big four that could handle the back-up center duties well a la Bosh or LMA.
Most of the trade speculation around here doesn't make any sense. It seems like it's more about which players are on their dream list rather than if the trade would make sense for the other team. Do you think the 76ers are really going to want to trade a core piece for Asik? Especially when their own center is averaging 16 ppg, 11 rpg, and 2 bpg? This makes no sense at all!
