Fair enough but most people live in the cities especially nowadays, so democrats would always be in power. When was the last time Republicans won the popular vote? '04 Bush? N that was like by less than 1%

Well that's democracy. Why does a rural person deserve a larger voice?

We already have the Senate that gives 1 South Dakotan 70 times more voting power than 1 Californian

If Republicans can’t win the popular vote that might say something about the current Republican Party.

Ya a simple self reflective question would be "why can't we get people in cities to like us?".

That would be the question a sincere person wanting to better the lives of its citizens would ask. They wouldn't ask "how can we weaken the voice of citizens living in cities because they don't like us?"

Notice how democrat politicians never frame it like the later like most GOP politicians. They never ask "how can we suppress the rural vote because they don't like us". They already ask "whole can we appeal to rural voters more".

It's just a fundamental difference between the Republican party and the Democrat party

This is how we see Republicans get worked up over immigration ( both illegal and legal ) and claim that it’s all about Democrats wanting more voters. Have republicans asked themselves why they feel they can’t win over immigrants?

United States is not a democracy its a republic. Electoral college serves as a buffer against the direct appointment because people might be duped into selecting a tyrant as leader. Another reason why its in place is (my personal opinion) that they've ( the founding fathers) studied the Roman Republic alot, which lasted for about 400 years before they became an empire. They also had the electoral college, but I think their elections were every 2 years, if I remember correctly from history.

The US is a democratic republic. The republic part doesn’t nullify the democratic part.

Because they were sold the lie that the Republicans are white nationalists who hate everything but white Americans, while the democrats are accepting n will serve as their protectors . But after they live here for 20+ years, especially if they moved here as teenagers, they start to see that thats not true. Also if they started making some real money, they'll want the Republicans in power.

So why then are Republicans so afraid of immigration and want to cut back even legal immigration?

Republicans have nothing against LEGAL immigration, they're against ILLEGAL immigration because they don't like anything illegal. Simple as that

A Republic is a subset of a type of democracy. It's just a representative democracy.

This is a talking point that always eventually is proven untrue. Especially if it's legal migration from non European places.

I really think you need to read the history of the electoral college. The founding fathers would be against the way it is now. When they developed it the House was supposed to expand with the rate of population growth, thereby expanding the electoral college. That stopped in the early 1900s thereby ****ing up the Electoral College. Please educate yourself.

Regarding this belief that only poor people support Democrats most blue state and Democratic areas have not only far higher per capita incomes than red states and the reddest areas of red states. They also contribute much more to the tax base. This is true of Texas.
