Other than the fumbles today, my biggest problem with JC was that TWICE he slipped and lost his footing on a handoff, killing any chance at yardage on the play in a close game. No one else seemed to demonstrate trouble with the field, despite the heavy rain at times. JC is clearly the homerun threat at RB, and his ability in open space is insanely great, as witnessed by the long runs, spin moves, etc. However, I feel much more comfortable with Ogbonnaya in short yardage situations. He has that knack to "fall forward" and deliver a little more of a blow between the tackles.
Many of the young players seem to be improving but teams like OU don't seem to have such a long break-in period. Was mighty impressed w/ UCF... talk about heart. Hope they do great the rest of the season.
Back to Texas talk. Yeah, they are going to have trouble versus Oklahoma if they don't improve in some areas.
LOL! Well they may too many mistakes early. They came back but made a few mistakes at the end. They still need to work on that passing game.
What do you mean by FINALLY? I've always been an Aggie fan. My parents are aggie alums....and I grew up with aggie crap all around me. If you are referring to my sig, I get rid of the TCU and Aggie part at the end of each football season (since that's the only NCAA sport I follow).
No kidding. I've known you were an Aggie backer for as long as I can remember. But hey, that's our pgabs!
unfortunatley I don't know your parents, this season is the first I've seen you say you were rooting for the aggies. you usually just come in ut threads like this and root against them. I've never seen that in your sig, but maybe I'm mistaken
sweed barely played and billy pittman will be back next week. ut is 5 deep at the wr position if you count shipley and they have a good TE (finley)...i think they will be fine...
As w/ the start of the season, defense is a bigger question. They've shown some flashes so they have potential. UT has the talent. These are not pro teams; in any given week they could 'click'. One thing that is being developed is the ability to come from behind. I recall some excellent college teams over the years that didn't experience a deficit and when they finally felt the heat they folded.
that's the one positive I've taken from these first few games, and tcu was a decent opponent and ut turned it up on them.
That, and the fact that the Horns get a chance to practice onside kicks in real action each week! In all seriousness, I'm curious to see if the return of Pittman can open up the field a little more. I've been very pleased with Nate Jones so far, but I'm hoping that when/ if we have ALL of our receivers healthy and playing, will the deep ball return? Will we see more of Shipley in the slot and running end arounds? I hope so.... That increased stretching of the field, vertically or horizontally, will only help the running game. And it'll be nice to see a 5 wr set with Sweed, Pittman, Jones, Quan, and Jordan....Whoah.... About the secondary. Maybe they are showing some growth. Can't say I'm impressed yet, but it looks like there is some progress. I'm glad we get one more game against a lower opponent before we move into Big 12 play. Maybe Kindle will help give our D a shot in the arm as well.
