Simms is TERRIBLE! He can't even complete a 4 yard pass to a wide open guy in the flat. How about that confidence that Mack is showing in his golden boy. First down run, second down run, and then short dink passes on third down.
Well they have to let Simms throw the ball down the field now. 28-17 with 6:41 left. Will Simms even finish the season as the Horns QB? Are Mock or Vincent Young even ready to play yet? I get the feeling if they were that Simms would be on the bench.
Good ?... They might as well start someone new, as they don't need a world beater at QB to beat the likes of Baylor. UT OL just folded like a cheap tent.
I think you could place some blame on "Maddog" the UT trainer. UT fans always say how he has a great history of training athletes like Mia Hamm, and whoever, but the UT OL and DL ALWAYS wear down against the good to great teams.

Another great day for Chris Simms! You can officially declare Texas "OU's b****". OU is what FSU was to UNC. Kiss the national and conference title goodbye.
We shouldn't be running obviously predictable 4-yd outs. We have four different running plays. That's it. We strand our RB's agaisnt teams stacked against the run, then ask our QB to face 3rd and long all game long. Chris Simms deserved a better offensive coordinator, and he deserves better than to be the lightening rod for the criticism he's going to recieve.
Again, agreed to some extent. But whether it's obvious or not, Simms must be able to complete 4 yard passes. It was irrelvent that it was an obvious pass situation because these plays had open WRs that Simms rolled the ball on the ground to.
Mack will never get rid of Greg Davis. It's either Davis or Simms, and one will be leaving at the end of this year.
It doesn't matter whether those passes get complete though - they aren't first downs anyway. And his recievers have to catch the ball, even if its not a great throw - if it hits them in the hands, they have to make that catch.
I think the play calling is a result of the lack of confidence they have in Simms, not that they're holding him back because they just want to be conservative. Simms just doesn't have it and the coaches know it but they know their defense is good enough to win games if Simms doesn't turn the ball over a lot. By the way that 4 yard pass that I referred to was for first down yardage right after the Sooners took the lead. That was a huge play.
