kudos to KSU. they played hard and deserved to win. josh freeman really impressed me. every weakness on our team was exposed last night. our RBs cant hold on to the ball, our secondary gets burned, and our pass rush is streaky.
I agree on all points. And really can't be too upset about no NC game; can you imagine Ginn (assuming tOSU defeats Michigan) against our ruined secondary? yikes...
Actually, I think UT would beat OSU in a rematch with Colt at QB. This year in college football there are no dominant teams, a bunch of good ones but no dominate ones. Oh, and TJ....Rice still sucks !! DD
Mine came from this mornings paper here in Austin. They were calling it a stinger, and they said that when Colt was warming up afterwards, that Greg Davis noticed he did not have his usual zip, so they stayed with Jevan. No offense Angle02 at all, I could be full of stuff.....but I'm not. DD
I wasn't saying you was wrong or anything ....I was looking up for any news this morning and haven't had any luck with anything... Thats good enough for me. I still didn't like the call sending Colt up the middle. I've never liked it with any QB actually and it was because of that reason right there. The kid has a bright future and I hope he does play next week even though I'm not too big of a Horn fan.
Unfortunate lost, gotta give KSU credit...they played a very good game and besides the fake punt, had a very good game plan. The defense was downright horrible lastnight, not only did the secondary get abused series after series, we weren't getting any type of pressure on the freshman QB. I know Colt doesn't play defense, but it is very difficult for both sides of the ball when you're consistently going 3 and out. Snead looked like a freshman, but I was also very disappointed with the dropped passes from our WRs and Tweedie. Not sure why Selvin and Jamaal are fumbling like they are...no excuses for that.
I was really pissed with that call, we've been having a lot of trouble with goaline situations, not sure why. What kills me is that we have a 6'3" 275lbs RB sitting on the sideline, while he isn't the power runner we want him to be, he is still big enough and strong enough to punch it into the endzone.
I was wondering why there was a picture of some guy with his face in Reggie Bush's crotch in my inbox this AM, thanks for the explanation Jgreen91.
Here is the article about Colt & the stinger ------------------------------------------------------------------- LONGHORNS FOOTBALL McCoy's injury gives Snead shot at playing under pressure Brown impressed by freshman's performance. By Cedric Golden MANHATTAN, Kan. — Colt McCoy said it was a stinger, but Texas coaches decided it would be better to give freshman Jevan Snead the reins against unranked Kansas State. X-rays on McCoy's injured right shoulder were negative, and Texas coach Mack Brown declined further comment when asked to elaborate on McCoy's status for the regular-season finale against Texas A&M in two weeks. McCoy, an emerging Heisman Trophy candidate, completed all four of his passing attempts for 51 yards but was felled by a shoulder injury on a hit by Kansas State linebacker Brandon Archer at the goal line. McCoy scored a touchdown on the play, but he left the field with his right arm hanging limply at his side. McCoy winced in pain on the bench as he was checked by the team's training and medical staff. He left the field to undergo X-rays, but returned for the start of the third quarter and threw some warmup passes with his helmet on. Offensive coordinator Greg Davis said he noticed McCoy's passes didn't have their usual zip, and the decision was made to stay with Snead, who completed 2 of 8 passes for 17 yards in the first half. Brown said he planned to stay with Snead the minute McCoy left the game. Snead, who has been the popular subject of transfer rumors on Internet message boards, finished with 190 yards passing and a touchdown pass. He completed 13 of 30 passes, including a 33-yard scoring toss to Limas Sweed that cut the deficit to 42-35 with 12:52 remaining. But his lack of experience in pressure-filled situations — until Saturday he had played only in games in which Texas has led comfortably — came to bear as he was sacked five times, often because he held onto the ball too long in the pocket. "Jevan did a great job,'' Brown said. "For a true freshman in this environment who wasn't expecting to play, he handled himself well." Neither Sweed nor McCoy were available for comment after the game, but the real question will be if McCoy is available for the A&M game, which has suddenly become a must-win if Texas is to keep its hopes alive for a BCS game. Oklahoma beat Texas Tech 34-24 on Saturday, forging a tie with Texas atop the Big 12 South Division with a 6-1 conference mark. Texas can clinch a spot in the Big 12 championship game with a win over the Aggies or an Oklahoma loss to Oklahoma State. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I think the UT coaches thought they could beat K-state without McCoy and gambled......they lost. DD
snead didn't look like a freshman, he looked like a guy who hasn't played and wasn't expected to play. he actually got into a rhythm. I know the offense didn't put the defense in good position, but you give up two half back passes in a row and the second for a touchdown. not being able to get stops at the end of the game.
You know, I've always wondered if signing up for stuff on the internet under other peoples email address is considered a fraud. Because you're basically saying you're some one else. Does any lawyers (madmax ?) know the answer to this question. Also, a lot of other stuff (like the people who put star wars kids video on the internet, or other home video fo people doing dumb stuff or acting strange) being put on the internet, what's the legal issue of that? Is it purely a civil trial if it was done without consent and brought "personal anguish"?
I am not going to bother reading all the posts. But a couple of observations. This KSU game wasn't that different than the lackluster road effort versus Tech and NU, just the result was one break different. This year's Texas team just isn't a power house. They are a very good team, but weaknesses on offense and defense. And Sam, I take back some of what I said earlier. The defense staff does deserve as much blame or more than the offensive staff. To still have the secondary breakdowns at this point given the individual talent at the corners and Mike Griffin makes no sense. The offense grew to be better, the defense didn't, despite getting healthier. Coaches have to take the heat. I disagree. I am not Big 10 fan, but right now Michigan and TOSU are way out in front of the rest. They both have dominant defenses, and offensive playmakers. Now I think some other team have the talent to compete with them--SC (yes they are very talented on both sides of the ball), LSU, Texas, Florida, Auburn, but as a team none of them as a team have showed near the consistency. And to TJ and Green and the rest of the haters, if this is the best you can do is show up today, fine. Texas will end up with a dissappointing year. Probably only a Big 12 championship and lesser BCS Bowl. Yes this is dissappointing, I expected more from a team trying to defend its last years undefeated national championship run. I think we would have lost to Mich or TOSU in the finals, but we should have made them go through us. But no excuses, Texas was not good enough year. The coaches were not good enough, the players were not good enough, the effort and execution was not up to snuff. But we will still win the Big 12, get to another BCS game, and get work in Spring to try to do better next year. My opinion is it goes like this: The winner of TOSU-Mich is in the championship (obviously). SC and Florida will be extremely close if they win out. I think it would go down to style points. They will be close in the computers, maybe slight edge to SC, but it really comes down the pollsters. SC has 3 losabe games left, home with Cal, ND and at UCLA. FL has 2 losable games left, at FSU (marginally losable) and Ark in the SEC finals. IF both SC and FL both lose, than the TOSU-Michigan loser gets a rematch. I don't see ND (particularly considering the smashing they got home vs Michigan), Arkansas (home smashing by SC) or even an undefeated Rutgers team getting in. What remote chance ND has depends on GTech finishing undefeated (Georgia/other ACC left), them spanking SC (while they smack Cal and UCLA), and an utter blowout of the Mich-TOSU loser. So there it is TOSU-Mich winner, Florida, SC and TOSU-Mich loser. Those are the 4 teams left in the mix. The SC/FL style chase will be interesting. I hope Florida gets in and wins the NC at this point.
I have NOTHING against Texas. But as an Aggie and in response to the "TAMU SUCKS" thread all I can say is... GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM GIG EM.
If Texas wins the Big 12, does that mean they go to the Fiesta Bowl? If so and if Rutgers wins out will there be a Texas-Rutgers match up in Arizona?
