Redefined: "And of course, Tech is located in Lubbock. They have nothing else to do but worship the Red Raiders." Snob. Dallas bites.
I don't think much of Harrell of the QB's I have seen under the Leach era. I rank them as follow 1. BJ Symons 2. Kliff Kingsbury 3. Hodges 4. Harrell 5. Cumbie Grante Harrell has time to improve but I wasnt reallly at all impressed by him lasy year not to mention the guy is a complete a-hole.
As a Tech guy, I think he sucks also. Hopefully he'll be decent, but as of now, your rankings are close enough to mine. )
potts didn't look too bad for a fish either, he threw some hard balls. he might be good in the future
Come on, really? SMU gets to be a snobby school? What are the standards exactly? Who the hell has ever heard of SMU anyway? Outside of Texas, of course. Honestly, Tech has to be awesome, based on a few parties I went to a few years ago in Lubbock. The girls looked better than the Austin chicks at least.
Really? Are you guys trying to perpetuate the whole Texan redneck stereotype? Seriously, SMU, COME ON! Imagine the GOB Bluth voice for that. For real though, I've heard of Texas Tech, I've only heard of SMU because that the hillbilly's president decided to build his library there.
I have heard of SMU. I heard they used to be a athletics powerhouse until they were hit with the death penalty.
how the hell do yall watch college football, and never heard of the death penalty? everytime there is some type of MAJOR ncaa infraction, they always mention SMU and the death penalty that severly crippled their football program. This happen a long time ago, and they are starting to get back to playing decent football. ill look it up. you can always wiki it up or something.
SMU football had already been placed on three years' probation in 1985, but in 1986 faced allegations that players were being paid. The alleged violations were: 21 players allegedly received approximately $61,000 in cash payments, with the assistance of athletics department staff members, from funds provided by a booster. Payments ranged from $50 to $725 per month and occurred while SMU was on probation. Also, SMU officials lied to NCAA officials about when the payments stopped. As a result: The 1987 season was cancelled. All home games in 1988 were cancelled, but SMU was allowed to play their seven regularly scheduled away games so that other institutions would not be financially affected. SMU was banned from bowl games and television in 1988 and 1989. The team's existing probation was extended two more years, to 1990. SMU lost 55 new scholarship positions over 4 years. The team was only allowed to hire five full-time assistant coaches, instead of the typical nine. The infractions committee cited the need to "eliminate a program that was built on a legacy of wrongdoing, deceit and rule violations" as a factor in what is still the harshest penalty ever meted out to any major collegiate program. It also cited SMU's past history of violations; at the time SMU had been on probation seven times, more than any other school. All recruits and players were allowed to transfer without losing eligibility, and most did so. New coach Forrest Gregg was left with an underweight lineup made up mostly of freshmen. As a result, SMU canceled the 1988 season as well, claiming it was unable to field a competitive team. its from wiki.
