I only wouldve enjoyed more watching Hakeem and Clyde play in the early 80s. Its about time UH returns to relevance. There is more than enough talent to go around and field a competitive program in Texas, esp such a huge metro area like Houston. I wonder if being a commuter school has had a negative effect on recruiting. It was cool seeing Hakeem on the sideline. I told my UH alum/fan coworkers to cross your fingers for a sighting. Half didnt know who Hakeem Olajuwon is. I'm not sure how many of them were also randomly Laker fans. During the playoffs you wouldve thought we worked in downtown LA.
Go over to the Aggies' board and read about how they think it's amateurish for the Coogfans to rush the field after the game. Dear Aggies - exactly what room do you have to talk? bwaaahaahahahahaha
UH alum.... Go Coogs. On another note, I've got a dozen eggs here handy.... Sidelining as a sore loser --- what a surprise.
Awesome win for the Coogs...I don't see how even a Tech fan can not have liked that game, it was awesome, back and forth.
Great win for UH. Great game. Case Keenum shows he is worthy of Heisman consideration before a national audience. This win is only going to further ignite the growing fan base and those rich alums whose donations to the program are sorely needed. Now just take one game at a time and win out. If that doesn't get you a BCS invite I don't know what will.
Last I saw was Tech by 2.5 pts. But in a push, you get your bet back, as far as I know. I love this thread....it's like an old SWC Battle Royal! Raiders bashing Coogs, Coogs bashing Raiders, neutral parties bashing both, Bears bashing Horned Frogs, even some Owls bashing Aggies! All this party is missing is some Mustang and Razorkback action. : ) As a UT grad and fan, and someone who grew up in Houston loving the Coogs in football and basketball, congrats on a great win over a Tech team that really impressed me in Austin last week. My first college football game ever was a UH win over Wyoming in the Dome eons ago, and I loved those early 90's UH basketball teams that were tourney-worthy almost every year. (Sam Mack, anyone?) Congrats on a great win that will help bring the program back, hopefully. But be careful.....that MSU game on the road is looking to be one of the toughest left on the schedule. They should have beaten that overrated LSU team yesterday....
whats with all the FFB hate? He said it was a good win for UH and he said you can throw an egg at him and he'll take it......geez, if thats not a sign of a man willing to pay up for his trash talk, then I don't know what is. btw, FFB is also right about it being a sloppy game.
Biggest issue right now will be the system. Going undefeated won't guarantee you anything because it's highly unlikely Boise loses again this season. And they won't fall below UH unless they lose. Plus, TCU is still undefeated, and Notre Dame could still steal an auto bid. Those things all work against UH right now. Their best bet is to see those teams lose once, or in ND's situation, at least once more. The USC could take care of that.
Are there plans to expand Robertson? I honestly thought it was a joke when somebody told me it seats 32k they need to move to reliant or something? Do they sell that place out weekly? I'd hope or is the fanbae that small?
The plan currently calls for expansion of the North Endzone seating to create an extra 8K seats along with a really nice/swank facility for hosting functions and new luxury boxes, etc. I get the feeling though, after seeing people go bonkers for a ranked UH team playing a QUALITY opponent at home... that they will just say **** it and build a new stadium altogether. It isn't that expensive to slap together a 50K seat stadium nowdays... Akron and UCF's new stadiums were super frickin cheap compared to expanding costs we're looking at. And to people who hate on the fan base, realize this; in houston texas there are a dozen sports teams looking for your loyalty and about a billion things to do on any given day... sooo... if you're playing against some formerly division II directional schools on a weekly basis, quite frankly, no one is going to give a crap. (just look at the crowd for UT-UTEP)... you put any school, provided the school doesn't exist in a vaccuum (A&M/Tech) and put them in that boring of a conference and watch the fan base suffocate and die off.
Never happen, UT and A&M don't want to have to compete with U of H for the Houston market (which they've owned up to this point) TV or recruiting-wise.
The only way TCU or UH could get a BCS invite would be for Ohio and USC to lose another game imo. Even if OU could manage to beat Texas, they would still have a chance at the National title. I'd have to say it would be a combination of TCU and Boise losing one game along with another top 10 team losing a second. And could you imagine of TCU or UH go undefeated along with Boise St. and only one gets a BCS bid? That would really stir the pot. If that doesn't make a case for a playoff I don't know what will.
This game should have been on ABC 13 instead of that whack ass Iowa vs Penn State game. Their lost. Utep next. Should be over by halftime. Eat Em Up Coogs!!!!
