In texas? cmon. So embarassing to see a board, no less deciding moves for education for our texas community, saddle themselves with their dear leaders

the first one is tough. He ws confronted for his viscious bullying as a high schooler. Ok thats a long time ago, very tough to indict anyone on that for their actions as a high schooler sadly, he could've changed and done well

He was also convicted of putting a grown man who simply confronted him for speeding in a neighborhood into a coma...this was also a long time ago, his record was scrubbed clean

this is where it gets interesting
his phd dissertation which is probably why he has some clout in higher education to be a dean was ruled that he copied and didnt' cite a whole lote of it to the point where the university after an investigation removed it from their site.

So with all of that, his school board decided he was a victim and when he stepped down went beyond what was required of the state and gave him 2 years pay severence. So now our education system, whcih is always looking for more money, is pying 700k to a guy who was caught lying about his resume, treated others terrible, and just appointed loyalist to their board...

This is nothing compared to my wifes school district where the nutcase QAnon Covidiots who barged their way onto the school board have waged an all out personal assault on everyone from the superintendent to the history teachers who make 50K a year. They accused them of racism against white people, and communists. They were accused of having connections to the Democratic party (very false) and indoctrinating their children. Not to mention how vile they have treated them just because heaven forbid they care about keeping children and staff safe during a pandemic.

Also my own wife has been accused by the school board of attacking Christianity because she is a theatre director who had an obviously gay character in show. The show was APPROVED by the same school board when they had a chance to review it among the full curriculum taught months prior.

So the people who have some newfound sympathy for the Allen Superintendent who had issues from his past brought up... I got very little additional sympathy for him if everyone else being attacked by BullSh$t by these QAnon nutcases gets zero respect in their roles.

Allen ISD has so much money going into it too that this is a job that does require a great deal of scrutiny. Just recently they built a football stadium that rivals most Big 12 stadiums. If any superintendent in the state needed to be looked at a bit closer it's the Allen ISD one.

yea its an odd thing to see people who say they 'love' this country by basically changing our history. Why cant we love our core tenants and freedoms and call out bad actors in history? Is that too overwhelming for snowflakes not to be like north korea and paint some rozy picture and now let the next generation actually understand pitfalsl, mistakes, trials,a nd tribulations so they future and govern smarter? SMH

The orthorox community slowly took over teh school board, cut and moved funding for their private religious schools and it worked successfully for them, them onlyhttps://www.nj.com/news/2018/08/as_orthodox_jews_move_in_taxpayers_in_these_nj_tow.html

They all do. People thinkg put money in "education" aren't thinking a world class foot ball faciility while you don't have other cost.
Theres just simply a lot of money in beuracracy and you can find it in way too many fields

Meanwhile when it rains it literally rains on stage in my wifes school. The kids have gotten used to losing their voices because they have to project so loud because the mic system doesn't work right. This isn't some small 2A school either. This is an exemplary 5A Texas school, and a theatre program that routinely goes to UIL for state. Those UIL credits that turn into dollars for the school come from teachers like my wife but where does that money go towards in a school district in Texas???? You guessed it.

And there's the whole fight about history and critical race theory where the teachers who are actually teaching are the ones being targeted while the football coaches who technically teach history don't do crap in their classes. I've never once heard of a football coach who teaches history being called out for letting their class be a blow off. These right winger school board folks don't seem to have a problem with that. Apathy and ignorance I guess are on brand though.

Agreed, it may be the only glimmer of hope of this **** show of social media and the internet.

More expsorue, maybe we can make it viral, maybe someone smart can make a newspiece or documentary intervieing or exposing these clowns

we all learn of the miltary industrial complex
people need to look at where teh big moeny in contracts is elsewhere

just like back in the day of iraq if you rcirtisize the extra spending on'safety' you're not patriotic, theres money dumped in education thats not accountable, tehres money dumped in almost every major large contract that takes the shill be it infrastructure, war infrastructure so on .

Just speaks to the need of effective local accountability, access, and transparency. I say local simply bc the logic structore of the organization, the futher and bigger it is, the harder it is to effectively manage it. IF we delegate down to the very idea of our system where reps happen locally the theory is that we can do better, but now they'veconsolidated in to massive teams and parties to where all dems vs all republicans and local reps aren't representing their constiutents which may have unique views, they just fall in line...nothing gets done.

Yea that an Entire board who is meant steward our kids education is basically putting their loyalty to a guy who has lied and then went over board throwing him double or triple the money that they had to based on law when the g uy was in the wrong for lying about his resume, but for some reason we have to pay him double for F'ing up?

Imagine that, a contractor you hired for the job lying about what hes done and when you fire him, you have to pay him double to leave?

Now put that in a climate with education where they are needing more money for the kids and this is how they spend 100s of thousans of dollars?

An absolute sham where the people in charge are looking out for thsemlves and their loyalties over the people, community, and children. They also went on an assault to the reporter who showed that the guy lied about his resume before it finally was conifrmed true....but don't worry, they said it was a "witch hunt"

Lol witch hunt when trump is getting critisized, Witch hunt when hunter is. Witch hunter when Mayor Pugh in Baltimore is. Witch hunt for Netanyahu...

this phrase just works to loyalist idiots.

Important to note that Texas is heavily targeted by political influencers on the right for one reason and one reason alone... Money.

Keep in mind that Texas is one of the states that does not have state income tax, but instead gain revenue from property taxes. With property taxes, the vast sum of those funds go to.... you guessed it... the local school districts. There's also the issue of Texas curriculums being changed because Texas is where the text books are printed nationally so if you can affect the Texas curriculum you affect the nation, but this is mostly about controlling Texas tax dollars to be re-directed to business enterprise especially in the surrounding areas of Houston, DFW, SA, and Austin.

I need to be careful about giving too much information but I will say that recently a big star of HGTV's sister was recently propped up in the school election by FIVE groups found out to be directly tied to freedom works, Koch, and a few other funders of the right. She had not lived in the city for decades, and had no control of her election messaging.

So why would the Koch Network, and Freedom works give two Sh$ts about a school board in a growing suburb of DFW?? It's obvious about a systematic control of Texas tax dollars to use that money on whatever they want instead of actual education & local needs of the community.

This is a big freaking problem, and it seems to be just really ramping up. We already had problems with School district money disproportionately going into the wrong areas. Now we have bigger problems.

now the question is about education, but not the one w'ere talking about. Civics education, how do we go about to sho the community these abuses intended for something else, but people in the know at a small scale?

We all talk about how the presidential election almost half the elgible voters just don't participate in democracy

now goto senate and congress and its much worse

now goto people who have daily impact, school boards, super intendents, sheriffs, judges...all are so integral and get power from us, may run totally unchecked. Thats the track of gold that needs to be uncovered for a funcitioning democracy, that we can vote out or in anyone, and if we can't we vote in or out whoever appointed them for true accountability. That takes making elections more accessible, a culture of engagement in our local communities as well

and of course its not just texas. ts hilariou to see these guys preach free market, but when it came for tesla to innovate and sell here they pandered to the auto dealers lobby, who woulda thought. OR when Texan free market guy Ted Cruz went and just wrote an article talking about how they turned the other way as these companies partake in tax scams in texas or subsidy scams, its almost like these pols don't have actual principles and just say anything to pander their base
but yea, nyc is the same. LA too, these are absolute rackets with a load of money and power up for grabs and very little accountability. Sadly the right will say look at those liberal cities, and the left will point out the shams of Abbot's Attorny General and say look at these people..meanwhile the rackett continues and peopel just sit their rooting for their teams like rocket fans defending tilman while he screws them

Yea, what if green tells us hes a terrible player but he is infact good? When does that every happen, in some dream?

I'm not sure how clear cut has to be. Said guy lied about his resume, appointed his buddies on a board and when he was suspected they tarnished the reporters name, literlaly made it hard for them to even goto PTO meetings for their children. THen when it was confiremd by uofH...they gave him a double severance package than required and sent him home a millionaire with less than half the work, called it a witch hunt, and once again found it hard to find money for the actual school programs...but this guy who appointed him and just got caught lying...send him home with golden parachute

like 2008, financial criss bc some assholes played vegas with americans resources....tore down a country's system...no one went to jail, some who did leave the company were given sweet golden parachutes for...****ing up

Its like like Larry Sanders, refused to stop smoking or focus on his professionalism and rules all other players follow...this year he still got 3 million from the bucks...it happens, doesn't make it right but yea we can always play devils advocate in any sitaution i guess if thats your point
