winning by 135 points is just disgusting. Great sportsmanship. 170 points in 32 minutes is unreal. I mean, what do you tell your players after you lost by 135 points or won by that many?

 

Wow, is it normal for half the kids on a H.S. team to dunk these days?
That was some crappy defense in that video. The first thing these kids should learn is defense. You don't have to be athletic to play d. No sympathy from me, just a horrible coach.

 

I think all the kids on the varsity team at my highschool could dunk during games.

The fact that they were playing full court pressure defense after each bucket in that video is pathetic. Does the coach have no sense of sportsmanship?

That's how Yates plays. It's not pathetic. It's great coaching. There's a reason why they're considered the No. 1 team in the nation.

 

People need to shutup.
These are young men who should play their hearts out every minute.

So they continued to do a full court press after they were up by 100-12 at half time? Coach of Yates sounds like a punk to me.

 

You guys are on that bs. The Yates coach put his 3rd stringers in the game. And as the coach said, the bench players bust their butts in practice on a daily basis, and when they get a chance to play they should DO THEIR BEST, just like kids should be taught to do. If you don't want the other team to run up the score then hold the ball (there is no shot clock in TX hs basketball). If you want mercy, as the coach of the other team, then forfeit. You have the right to do that. But don't expect other kids to not do their best because their best is better than yours. Life doesn't work that way. Sometimes you win big and sometimes you lose big. Sometimes you get knocked the F out. What matters is how you respond.

The Yates coach has a responsibility to get his team prepared to win state, up their national ranking (which is harder to do since their schedule is so weak...hence blowouts), go after records if attainable (didn't 75% of this board curse the Colts for not chasing 16-0) and get his younger players ready to take the reigns next year (i.e. not telling his 2nd and 3rd string to go easy on the opponent). Not to mention, letting up arguably cost his team one state title and the chance for an undefeated season previosuly.

 

Should the coach not have his 2nd and 3rd string players execute the things they practice so they will be ready when it really matters, whether that comes this year because of an injury to someone, or next year when the older players leave?
