unfreakin'believable.....that was one of the best games i've ever been at. i thought it was over when they went up 35-16, but wow....what a comeback, barrick nealy should be a finalist for the payton award after that one. 23-32, 400 yards, 4 TD's, 1 INT...what a game. and texas state is the 4th largest dadakota but it is UT, A&M, and surprisingly North Texas that are bigger, strange but true. rocketman, it was absoulutely rocking at Bobcat Stadium tonight, you should try to make it down for next week's game against Cal Poly. what a game, way to go cardiac cats....
and oh yeah, fatty....the place was near capacity, at least 14,000 in a 15,000 seat stadium. not bad for the student body being on thanksgiving vacation.....
People in this state grow up rooting for Texas or A&M. They don't stop because they go to school somewhere else. I'm sure if you went to an A&M function you would make the same observation. You guys make jokes about people who didn't graduate from UT and you come into a thread that has nothing to do with UT to do so, its only your penis envy that's the joke in this thread.
Hopefully it's a night game next weekend. I'm going to the Big XII championship game and would love to make the road trip afterwards! If so, first beer at the Tap Room is on me Hakeem06.
i went out for a couple of hours, came back watched the rockets lose...but tonight was great. best time i've had since i've been here, and there have been some GREAT nights here in san marcos, believe me. this season has been terrific, i just don't want it to end. sidenote: barrick nealy numbers on the night: 126 yards rushing, 1 TD, 10.5 ypc 400 yards passing, 4 TD, 1 INT, 72 % comp. walter payton award, here we come. no one is a better leader and playmaker than nealy at this level. what a performance. he will be playing on sundays, he's just too good and he just made it look too easy tonight. how did UH ever let him walk off that campus?
Fatty... From what I've read from you in this thread, you come off exactly the opposite as any other Tech guy I know. I have a couple of good friends that went to Tech and they don't have the mindset at all that you do...that if you don't go to UT, A&M, or Tech than you're school is garbage. And I hate to break it to you, but as far as academic prestige goes Tech is more on the level of Texas State than A&M or UT. I don't know how long it's been since you've been in school, but it's not cheap for those of us that don't get scholarships. 3 years ago I applied to UT, SWT, and Sam Houston State, and got into all three...although UT wouldn't let me in their communication school right off the bat. I chose Sam Houston, because of cost and because I liked their program. The bottom line is a degree is a degree, unless we're talking about Ivy League or something. The only way a degree from UT, A&M, Tech, or anywhere is going to help you more is if you have connections with someone that graduated from that school. Back to football...what the hell does graduating from UT have to do with liking the football team? Are you not supposed to like the team if you didn't attend/graduate? I didn't realize there were requirements to be a fan of a college football team. I'm not a big UT fan myself, but what you're saying is pointless. Anyway...looked like a hell of a game today. I'm sorry I missed it.
Quite frankly, one of the dumber comments I've seen. I don't even need to argue this. Please find someone who would think this is true. BTW, I have no idea how many students are currently at SWT. Tech typically has a student body around 25,000. Does SWT? I really don't know.
Yes, actually around 27,000 if I remember correctly and that is just undergrad. Texas Tech Admission standards High School Class Rank Minimum Test Scores for Assured Admission* ACT SAT Top Ten Percent No Minimum No Minimum 1st Quarter 25 1140 2nd Quarter 28 1230 Lower Half 29 1270 Texas State Admission standards Class Rank ACT SAT Critical Reasoning + Math Top 10% *no minimum required 1st quarter 20 920 2nd quarter 22 1010 3rd quarter 26 1180 4th quarter 29 1270 TT is harder to get into. DD
^^^ then how come i had about 10 friends from high school who applied to then SWT and got turned down, and then went onto tech? i'm wondering the info you found isn't 5,6 years old. the requirements have been changing every year at Texas State and it increasing difficult to get into. tech is still a good school but Texas State is still overall a tougher institution to not only get into but do well and graduate from. it's a challenging school with very tough standards.
Are you sure. I thought UH had around 35,000 while Texas State has 28,000. Texas State has grown by leaps and bounds. In '98 when I started college (at UH) SWT only had about 12,000 students which means its enrolement has increased by 16,000 in only 8 years. This year the Texas State School of Music passed Tech and UH to be the 3rd largest music school in the state behind UNT and UT. Re: Football. I was in Houston during the break and this was the first game I missed this season. I'm glad that I have another chance to see a playoff game this weekend. Eat 'em up cats.
Dammit. I was hoping for a night game. Will have to hurry to a bar to watch that and the USC/UCLA game!

Interesting note: The first team that Texas State played in that movie was SWT. It was filmed mostly at UNT. I believe that at one point UNT wanted to change their name to Texas State but they had already gone through a big hassel changing the name to U of North Texas from North Texas State and didn't want the headache again.
sorry, i was at the game. i'm going to tape it this week though, while i'm at the game because i want to see what we look like on tv. supposedly it looked much nicer than the new hampshire game before.
