Why are we talking about graduation rates on this thread?

Bigtexxx- Where does it say it allows 6 years to graduate. Like I said, that data is almost 10 years old already and it clearly says the rates are from students that attended UT from 1995-1998.

They enrolled in those years. This is the latest data available. It just came out in December.

As a Texan, I was naturally proud of having the one school named after the state (and thus represents the state on the national and international scene, whether we like it or not) beat a California school. I am a UH alumni, so no I am not a huge UT fan, but I don't root against them when they're playing teams from out of state.

I know a lot of people who have never been to UT (and some whom have never been to college, period) who were rooting like crazy for UT to beat USC. That's state pride, folks. The Longhorn logo is widely thought of as the state logo, and this just further confirms the pride Texans have in this great state of ours.

IMO, the more recognition UT gets on the national scene is good for all of us regardless of which Texas school we attended. I support the Longhorns as a school that represents my state, period.

This holds true for some in-state schools, but not all.

I'm gonna go ahead and respond for bigtexx:

You ain't nothing but a typical UH bandwaggoner student. Rice has better academics than UH and we beat y'all in basketball. Also our athletes are smarter than your athletes.

LOL! I will admit that UH athletics hasn't been doing well for a while now, but I still support them regardless, I am not a bandwagon fan in that I am not a UT fan now, but I have and I will root for them when they represent the state of Texas on the national scene.

BTW, I would do the same for any other Texas school, but UT more so because as I said, it is called the "University of Texas".

We're discussing athletics here, not academics. If it was a discussion about which school is academically superior, then Rice would take the cake. Athletics? It's not even close: UT.

sorry, it was a tongue in cheek post. He hates UT, but he's also so arrogant about Rice academics.

Now let me continue bigtexxx's rant: You ain't nothing but a t shirt fan. Rice is the best academic school. UT ain't nothing but a bunch of cheats, they got lucky. ATM rules. Boomer Sooner. Go SC.

    That covers it.
