If we do get catastrophic power failures again, it'll be the end of Abbott's career. Maybe he'll kill us, but it'll be through incompetence, not because he wants to. ;)

From the article...(I never knew this)

Texas is one of just six states with no statewide requirement for carbon monoxide alarms in homes.

    Why not?

Your body.., your choice to unknowingly breath carbon monoxide if you may not know you want. (?)

They just want the efficient free market system to be utilized here.

Enough people die and the invisible hand will correct things. Just need a few hundred or so to die first for the invisible hand to step in and save the day.

It's mild relative to last year artic blast. If we get catastrophic power failures from this, we are truly fk.

You say this in jest, but the overall ability of the average Texan to accurately forecast the risk & harm from lack of CO regulation and adjust their behavior accordingly does not change after death.

Clutchfans please remember the lessons from last year and prepare. To keep pipes from freezing keep your taps open a bit and wrap any exposed pipes with towels or blankets. Make sure you have plenty of water handy in thermoses or coolers (remember a cooler can keep the cold out as much as the heat). If you haven't gotten a good coat yet get one ASAP along with a hat that covers your ears and gloves. Make sure you dress in layers. Have batteries and candles ready. Hope everything works out.

I agree and expect this cold front to be a non-event from the energy perspective. Just pointing out how politically potent the blackouts are. His primary opponents dog him on it now, and Beto is going to drone on endlessly about it in the general. So long as Abbott can say he dealt with the problem, he'll be safe, but if the same problem comes back, Huffines might be governor.
