It's like someone trying to debate affirmative action while casually throwing around the term "nig***." Kind of hard to take such a person seriously. I just shrug my shoulders and, for the sake of conversation, pretend he is an adult capable of thinking rationally on the subject.
It's actually nothing like that at all, and you insult every black person who has gone through a legitimate form of discrimination by comparing the two. Of course, I guess this kind of thing is expected by now. Next we'll be comparing making men use the men's restroom to the holocaust. Truly horrifying.
And before people get butt hurt about that, I'm not saying that people suffering from transsexualism don't face hardship, it's just in no way comparable to racial or sexual discrimination. We have a long way to go when it comes to dealing with mental illness in the US, but it's still not the same.
Yawn. I imagine people who like to casually call gay people "faggots" would attempt a similar defense -- "But it's not comparable to race!" Whatever. My point stands. It makes you appear like an unsophisticated boob, but for the sake of conversation I ignore it.
And my point stands, if you can't tell the difference between legitimate slurs like "f*****" or the N word and calling someone suffering from transsexualism a tranny, then that's on you kiddo. It's no more offensive than calling a nymphomaniac a nympho or someone with schizophrenia a schitzo, it's just a shortened form of the actual disorder......unless we're talking about sad little sensitive snowflakes. Just about anything can trigger those types and that's why we ignore them.
Man Bobby, my post wasn't disrespectful or argumentative. I even used the word please. Why can't you extend me the same respect? True colors, I guess...
"Suffering from transsexualism“ Suffering? You just don't get it. I'm done participating in this conversation with you. Good day and peace to you...
Who are the authors in the Bible? Why do these nameless, faceless denizens get so much faith from you that their words are literally the word of God? Why do you cherry pick the Word of God that was written thousands of years ago and apply it to today's modern social climate? What kind of lives did these authors lead? Geographically where were they located? Under what Kingdom or Empire did they reside in and in what point of human history? What religions existed at the same time as these authors? What was the social climate like in their lives during the period they wrote the books that belong in the Bible?
That's generally how we refer to people living with mental illness and transsexualism is a dissociative disorder. To explain, when we say "transsexualism" it's only talking about those with the delusion that they are actually a different sex than they really are and not talking about those who merely have a transvestic fetish. Is it that you think there's no suffering involved with living with a dissociative disorder?
Sure, Bobby, there is suffering. They are biologically mismatched. Some are able to deal with it better than others. Living in an unsupportive environment greatly compounds whatever suffering they may or may not be experiencing. It is worth noting that recommended "treatment" is not focused on "de-transgendering" them, but rather helping them cope with the stresses they have to live through in a social environment that stigmatizes their condition, or sometimes pursuing options to help them transition their bodies so that it is less "mismatched". It wasn't too long ago that people were referring to homosexuality as a mental disorder. That changed, because there was a general recognition in the psychological community that sexual preference is not binary. It's the same thing with transgenderism. Gender identity is something else we don't fully understand, but there appears to be enough evidence that it's not strictly binary either. Ideally, gender identity would match with one's XY chromosomes, sure, but for some people it just doesn't. The appropriate response is not to call it "delusion" and use derisive terms like "tranny" for which the only purpose, really, is to dehumanize them and make them feel as if they are wrong for feeling as they do (as if its a choice they are making). The appropriate response, in my view, is to allow them to live their lives without stigmatizing their condition and making them feel like social outcasts. If people can agree on at least that much but still disagree on how to deal with this bathroom issue, I'm OK with that. I recognize that this is a problematic thing to legislate, one way or the other.
Anyone that isn't part of social 'norm' is likely going to suffer from both society and their own image of what they were told 'norm' is. That doesn't mean there is anything inherently wrong with being something outside of 'norm'. I would bet there are many that do not suffer, or is able to overcome social pressure. It is also a given that someone who is part of the 'norm' would simply not know. At most, they can ask to have some ideas. Those that refuses to even ask is refusing to see other people perspective. Those that refuses to ask, but then claim they know, is showing both arrogant and ignorant.
Sure, that's one way to look at it I guess, but it really is a dissociative disorder....that's not being mean, it's just an accurate description of the situation. If someone has the delusion that they are actually a hobbit or some other fictional race, we don't say that they are biologically mismatched, we say that they are delusional......because that's what they are. It should be no different with those who are male and believe themselves to be female or are female and believe themselves to be male. In reality, there is no way to "transition" to becoming a different sex any more than there is a way to "transition" to becoming a dolphin or a unicorn. Sure you can mutilate your body in order to make your outward appearance closer to your delusion, but that's all you are doing. I'm not saying it's even a bad thing, but call it what it is. Just to be clear I am, and have always been against legislation of any kind on this issue because honestly it's a non-issue. Personally I think people should leave poor trannies (still not a slur, just a shortened version of "transsexual" and no one has a problem with "trans" which is the same damn thing) the hell alone, they have it hard enough as is. That said, I perfectly understand why women wouldn't want to have to deal with dicks swinging in their locker rooms or public showers especially if it's a situation where kids could be around. I feel like common sense should come into play here and for the most part, it does except for when assholes are trying to push a political agenda. You just don't hear about many problems stemming from this issue and I think if we drop it, we still wouldn't hear about many problems with it.
I have the chump on ignore. He's either a troll, stupid beyond belief, or an actual bigot. I was getting tired of trying to figure out which one he was when, like a bolt from the blue, the answer came to me. He is all 3. Major kudos, by the way, for your posts on the issue. So many seem to not have a clue about the bigotry these people face. Now that bigotry, like the legislated discrimination faced by the freed slaves after the Civil War, is trying to make its way through the Texas Legislature. Texas is better than this, in my humble opinion.
Not shocking that a feeble minded person like yourself would come to that conclusion. Enjoy your echo chamber kid.
Yes, the bigotry is real. "Quite an experience to live in fear, isn't it? That's what it is to be a slave." I heard that quote in a movie... can't quite remember the name right now... he he. Thank you for the kind words. I genuinely try to be respectful to everyone on this site and not resort to calling names or belittling another's beliefs... it truly frustrates me when others can't extend that same courtesy. Peace @Deckard...
A "delusion" is when you think something that clearly is divorced from reality. That's not what is going on with a transgendered person, and it is sheer confusion to state that what's going on is they literally think they are "male" when they are "female" or vice versa. You think they imagine themselves to have a penis or to have a vagina, when in fact they do not? What they believe is that their body is mismatched with their own sense of what their sex should be. In fact, the people who study this stuff actually find there is likely a biological basis for it -- their brains are different, and in some ways they are more similar to the brains typical of the gender they identify with. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/is-there-something-unique-about-the-transgender-brain/ Call it a disorder, if you wish, but referring to it as a delusion is simply an inaccurate application of that term.
That's exactly what is going on though in a lot of instances. The delusion is that they are "body mismatched", that they are truly the opposite sex and that they are put in the "wrong" body. That's a delusion that is clearly divorced from reality. There is no "right" or "wrong" body for a person to be in. Furthermore, the belief that a person can change their sex by mutilating their genitals is clearly divorced from reality and that's another thing that is going on. When I refer to transsexualism as a disorder, it's because it is a disorder that is officially recognized and if we're being honest, it's not in any way a controversial position. I understand that when it comes to this issue it's hard to escape the politics related to it, but any other similar delusion or dysphoria related to a similar delusion would be fully accepted as a disorder. No one is secretly something else just stranded in the "wrong" body and those who believe that to be the case need help. As far as blanket statements go, that's a pretty solid one.
I just understand what people like Bobby want? If these people are actually experiencing a mental condition how does this help? How do people like Bobby expect a transexual who went through all the surgeries and looks like their opposite sex they were born with expect to go into the restroom they were 'born into' without causing a ruckus? Basically, Bobby wants a transexual indivudal to always feel like **** when they need to do their bathroom duties when traveling? Imagine the stress these people have to go through every time they have tinkle in public because of this.
