I'm guessing its some obscure rule about the ball landing, etc that caused that call. The replay was pretty clear about the direction the ball was headed.
I don't care who wins as long as OU covers the spread, doesn't look like its gonna happen especially with that bad lateral call. Colt looks pretty good out there today, i'm halfway impressed.
Who cares? The bad calls were on the field. Replay had nothng to do with them. It's not like it cost OU the game - what cost them the game was that Texas was better than they were in the 2nd half by a wide margin.
All I stated was I dont believe in the Instant Replay system thats going on throughout the NCAA. I didn't mean just this game. They really need to look the system over or do away with it. Texas did play a better 2nd half. But you have to remember when things go your way you build up momentum. Looking forward to next years game. Watching OU and UT go at it is one of my favorite games to watch in college.
Sooner fans are such vags. An Oklahoma TV station is reporting officials posed with Texas fans before the game and will bring it to Stoops/OU's attention. Always blame the refs.
LOL, maybe the President of the University of Oklahoma will ask the coach's permission to write some more letters asking that they erase the game from the record books again............
The adage "ground can't cause a fumble" is only right 99.9% of the time. A hand does not constitute being down. The ball touching the ground does not down a player. If this was the case, everytime a player picks a fumble off the gound in college, they would be down. For a player to be down with the ball, a part of his body besides the hand or foot must touch the ground. I've seen the type of play you talk about where the QB loses the ball and it was ruled a fumble.
The refs even explained the rule: The ball was thrown at the 12 and touched Peterson at the 12 and by rule that is a backwards pass. If you look at the video, they're right. Starts and ends at 12. What is there to discuss?
Speaking of rules.... Here is my master play.... is this legal/feasable???? youre up 20-10 you punt 8:00 left in the game the other teams punt returner decides to let it bounce and roll can you just make a circle around the ball and stand there until time runs out? sure the other team can pick up the ball and stop the clock, but they run a big risk of touching it and creating a turnover if you are defending the ball.
I'm a UT fan and I was shocked this didn't get changed back. I thought the fact that Peterson touched the ball as it was clearly going foward was all that matters. It may have only gone foward a few inches, but the replay clearly shows the ball going foward until Peterson touches it. I'm not saying it was the wrong call because I don't know the rule. I just thought it was certain to get overturned. Great play be Ross to play until the whistle is blown. Stoops can b**** all he wants. The person he should be most angry at is Peterson for stopping. I may be going to hell for this...but seeing that OU kid crying was one of the funniest things I've seen in a while.
I was surprised they ruled it a fumble on the field. Once it got to the replay booth, it was always going to be upheld. The ball didn't move forward. The movement of the QB and the RB puts a "slant" on how things are perceived. But physically, that ball was a dead lateral. A lateral is a live ball and a fumble. It was the correct call - but usually officials give the benefit of the doubt to the offense. I'm glad they didn't, here .
