I've shot handguns but have never shot anything like an AR-15 but that makes sense with everything I've heard.

This goes to why those type of weapons need to be considered a specific class and regulated even more than other weapons.

Don't forget Kitty Litter for when kids are locked down and can't go to the bathroom.

That is a real thing by the way, and the Alex Jones conspiracy theory was that public school teachers were grooming kids to be furies.... not kidding. That's a real conspiracy theory, but it's actually there because of mass shootings.

How is this not getting ad time

"Dan Patrick wants to get your kids DNA, he has given up on trying to fix the gun problems so he wants your kids DNA so if anything tragic happens we can identify your child much quicker, what else does Dan want with your child`s DNA? Dan Patrick is to extreme for Texas"

Neither one will disfigure to the degree that you can't identify, unless you're talking hundreds of bullets on an already dead body. The diameter of a .223 round is... .223 inches. A 9mm round is .38 inches. The average male has a surface area of 2790 inches, according to Google. Destroying a body beyond identification with a gun would require more than a few shots. It is basically a needle as opposed a wrecking ball.

Police bullet proof vests are rated to stop all handgun rounds. Police vests won't stop rifle rounds, those require bulky hard plate inserts, that almost no cops would ever wear.

In 99.9% of cases, dental records and fingerprints should enable you to identify if that is really your only goal. This, on the other hand, creeps me the F out. If you are concerned about dynamite attacks in school, DNA might make more sense.

If my school district sent this out I would be alarmed/concerned at first blush, but in the event your kid goes missing, it's an understandable precaution to take. Doesn't seem like it has anything to do with shootings, but optically its easy points for dems to cash in on. As for privacy concerns, I don't think the kits are sent to or shared with the govt unless something tragic happens... Plus it's optional so there's that.

My understanding is that the smaller round can be deadlier because it tumbles so when it enters a body even though it is smaller it causes more trauma and lead to more disfigurement.

I haven't received the kit to know what's exactly it is collecting to see if it's at all useful. I assumed it was exactly this - optional and a kit to be kept at home.

Folks this is not the Texas GOPs plan to mitigate mass shootings - i apologize for the misunderstanding. It's Babylon Bee stuff

Like i said "protecting kids" is part policy goal, part QAnon crazy fan service which is why you see soulless zombie husks like Dan Patrick strutting around about it.

The actual plan for increasing and normalizing the propagation of military style weapons with capacity for mass acts of terror and distressing propensity for dismemberment of kids while simultaneously lowering the amount of resulting mass shootings incidents is and remains

    thoughts & prayers

I think it's fingerprints and a DNA sample (saliva?), and then just the regular rigmarole (name, DOB, SSN, etc).

Well, along with a poster with the ten commandments reminding students its a sin to shoot each other, the other great solution from the republican state government will be to train the students to be trained in battlefield trauma care...

Why not a custom bulletproof vest and helmet equipped with a face shield plus blocks of titanium in each classroom that slide down from the ceiling that completely block each door and the windows?
