From where I was sitting, it "appeared" the DB was about to change directions and was going to turn and run with Williams but just as he was about to do so they both made incidental contact and because he was in the process of turning around he was off balance which made the play appear to be worse then it really was, hence the flag. I was up in a suite so I didnt have that great of a view and the replays we saw were pretty inconclusive either way. Baqui99 - did you have a good angle on the play from where you were sitting
If you want to be fair, you shouldn't mis-characterize my feelings towards Simms. I haven't seen the whole game yet (taped it, was at a wedding), but I will go ahead and say he played a great game.
I'm sorry. I gathered from your posts that you weren't a real big fan of Simms. Of course, I also forgot you don't really post what you feel.
It's not like I promoted him as a coward in my sig or anything. I usually don't question anyone's character like that.
Believe it or not, I'm actually more worried about TAMU than Tech, even though it's in Austin. I know some crazy things have happened in Lubbock in the past, but I'm confident in us winning that game. Our secondary is terrific. The one way you can beat Texas is with a great running game and a very physical offensive line, and Tech really has neither. Kingsbury's dangerous, and I'm sure he'll have some success, but we're fine against these passing teams. We should beat Texas A&M, but if we get conservative, you never know. You really can throw out the records in a lot of these games, and I'm sure it would make the Aggies season if they could come up with a huge game at Austin. They've also had some success from time to time running the football-- at least more than Tech. Also, I'm sorry, but those were not even close to the same plays that Greg Davis calls every game. That was a ****ing brilliant game from Greg, perhaps the best I've seen from him since he's been at UT. Tons of primary receivers were going downfield, and when he realized we couldn't run, he totally put the game on Chris' shoulders. There was no more of this conservative three yard pass and let our defense hold them BS. That game was an example of the type of results you could see if you use the pass to set up the run, and let the receivers go downfield and make plays. If Greg keeps calling games like that, and Roy stays healthy, we're not going to lose, no matter who we play. Bet me.
First off, I said USUALLY. I could try to explain to you why Mack Brown and the Clintons are a horrible comparison, but I won't waste my time.
Good, because that would be way off-topic, and I would get pretty ticked off if a UT football thread was derailed by a personal sniping match back and forth. Take it to email if you really want to try to get the last word.
There's no last word to be had between TheFreak and me. On topic, I think this game, and the past two, should dispel some myths about Chris Simms, and the last game should definitely dispel some about Greg Davis. It'll be interesting to see if they can continue it in two weeks against Tech. Yes, I am looking past Baylor.
