I lean more anti-abortion but this just makes me embarrassed to be a texan.

I think the extreme right wing will find that their methods and ideology are more aligned with groups like the Taliban than anyone else.

The bill will get passed, but Republicans have once again been embarrassed and more awareness has been brought to the despicable right wing representation that poisons the great state of Texas.

Can you provide statistics on safety standards and how they differ from clinics that don't do abortions? How many botched boob jobs and nose jobs and any other kind of outpatient procedure? Do you have any actual data that spells out a need to improve safety standards at abortion clinics? Where is all the evidence?

I wish the commodores posts would be broadcast nationwide prior to any election of any consequence.

We'd be putting Teddy Kennedy on the dollar bill before the end of the century.

I hate to say it but the TX legislature might remain in Republican hands for a long time thanks to redistricting. Now getting rid of Perry and the other Constitutional officers though is another matter.

I think this may end up being the biggest thing to come out of this debacle: the GOP has, unwittingly, given a prominent name and face to a person that folks are already calling to run for Governor. If Wendy Davis should decide to throw her hat into the ring, Rick Perry should be very, very nervous. The filibuster story is heroic, her backstory is inspirational, she's relatively camera-friendly. Hell, even the pink tennis shoes are iconic. Unless she has some skeletons in her closet, she could be a HUGE threat to the Perry machine.

Wendy responded to Perry in a statement:

“Misplaced priorities of legislative leaders squandered a tremendous opportunity to make much needed improvements in our transportation infrastructure and help create good jobs and bring businesses to Texas. Despite urging by responsible members of the Senate to bring up the matter of transportation, Lt. Governor David Dewhurst derailed as much as much as $1 billion per year in transportation funding by stubbornly pushing divisive, failed legislation attacking women’s health care options.

If leaders are serious about using this second called special session to improve the lives of Texans by repairing and expanding our transportation networks, they will find no greater ally than me. If they intend to keep pushing their extreme personal political agenda ahead of the interests of Texas families, I will not back off of my duty to fight on their behalf.”

So, Mister Commodore, what is your opinion about the blatant attempt of the Republican Leadership in the State Senate to claim that the bill had passed while forging the time stamp, a clear case of defrauding the people of Texas? Have any opinion at all? Do you, all of you, intend to simply ignore what happened?

    Hey? What say You!

It didn't pass because a mob disrupted the session and prevented an orderly vote at the end. You seem proud of the fact that volume and numbers were used to prevent a vote of the people's representatives (on something that is overwhelmingly popular no less).

It's an Alinskiite tactic, using disruption to inhibit the free will of others. You can shout people down, get in their way, and still claim you are "nonviolent". Was also used in Wisconsin to try and disrupt the democratic process there. Occupying offices, shouting down legislative sessions. The use of numbers to intimidate and inhibit the democratic process of representatives voting. A hallmark of the left.
