I can't vote for a liberal Democrat, and Perry has been the worst governor this state has seen since Ma Ferguson. ("If the King's English is good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for me.") Grandma's entire campaign is based on the fact that she's not Rick Perry. I'm very mixed on Kinky's stances, but I like the fact that he's not politics as usual. I'm going to consider Libertarian James Werner, but I'll probably vote for Kinky.
Thanks. I can sum it up like this...... I am voting for Kinky because I am sick of the status quo in politics, particularly Texas state politics. I've donated my time, money, and support to his campaign because he has been a friend of mine for the past 4+ years. How's that work for ya?
It works okay for me, not great. Helping him out cause he's a friend is a great reason for you to vote for him, but not for Max to (for example). And the sick of the status quo thing rings hollow for me with nothing behind it. Tell us what he'd do differently, not just that he'd be different. This change for change's sake argument is, I think, especially specious when it's accompanied by standard brand, status quo, negative campaign slogans. I mean, come on. You even used that tired old flip flopping charge. If you want to change Texas politics, one way would be to avoid Rove-ian slander tactics.
RMTex, Is Kinky campaigning in Bryan/College Station? I don't think I have seen a single Kinky campaign worker in this community.
Sorry to disappoint you, B.J., but I just refuse to get into a pissing match with you over this one. Bob Gammage didn't win the Dem primary, and these four (five with the Libertarian candidate) are the choices we have. You make your vote, I'll make mine, and may the best candidate win.
I'm sure he is or has been through Bryan/College Station, but you should contact this person: John Boehm Ags for Kinky Chair jmboehm@gmail.com
I already said I'd vote for Kinky if I were registered in Texas. I'm not arguing that and I'm long done arguing for Gammage. I just take issue with your first post in the thread where you call Strayhorn a flip flopper and Bell a serial election loser in order to boost support for Kinky. Do you not see how this is the worst version of politics as usual? That's all.
If I lived in Texas I would vote for Kinky because of one main issue. I would vote for him because of his ideas on education. 1. He wants to reduce the standardized testing. 2. He wants to put an end to political appointments concerning education. From now on the higher ups will have to have had classroom experience. That is the biggest way to make a change, and improve education IMHO. Instead of having businessmen and political cronies decide we need a different test, or textbook it will be actual teachers who know what it is needed and what happens in the classroom making the decisions. 3. He wants to give teachers better pay, and find higher quality teachers. I disagree with him on some issues such as prayer in school(which he is for), but that wouldn't hold anyway so it isn't that important. Education is, and he has some ideas that can really make a change. No matter what the other candidtates talk about regarding funding etc. it will make little difference if all the appointments are just the same ol' brand of political cronies and appointees.
MadMax- Christian Lawyer Social compassion Sense of humor Rocket fan Astro fan VY fan I say we start a write in for MadMax
I somehow don't think Max is extroverted enough, insecure enough, and weasly enough to be a Texas politician. (At least at this stage in his life )
No kidding. He'll have to explain his ambiguous Texan fandom before he gets my vote. Is he a Texan fan or is he a VY (Titan) fan? You can't be both. You've got to stand for something, or you'll fall for anything.
