If only we all afford Tesla trucks.

Joe can keep doing packed comedy shows in Houston while downplaying the disease and getting upset at lockdowns, Elon can rebelliously keep his factory open amongst any potential future orders to close (federal nationwide order would be then only way that’s possible amirite?) its gonna be sweet.

I like Tesla’s, I like JRE, I like Austin, but I could care less about business striving during the pandemic in Texas when I know that it’s at the expense of unnecessary acceleration of the spread of this virus, which is and will continue to cause more death, more disabilities, more financial crisis.

The bros packing the bars drinking it up like it's spring break are the problem

if they have real jobs they won't be so bored and spreading it

Sure and the bars, restaurants, comedy clubs and any other place people socially gather should be closed. Maybe if these bros weren't listening to Joe Rogan spew garbage about lockdowns being bad they would be less bold to get out and spread, you of all people should understand the impact people like Joe and Elon can have on the public.

197 deaths in Texas today. This is getting really, really bad Tinman.

Joe nor Elon are not anywhere near close to being the main blames for how our country has handled the virus, of course, I'm just saying a lot of people idolize the famous and wealthy, both of those guys have incredibly large platforms and have been quite vocal in downplaying the virus, and going against lockdowns which is a disservice to our nation during this pandemic.

Who I'm blaming for what's happening in America, in Texas, is Trump, Abbott, Patrick, and the vast majority of all right-wing elected officials, the vast majority of all right-wing media.

This country needed and needs now more than ever, a SERIOUS lockdown. You can talk about Bill Gates and a vaccine, and all that's great and I hope it comes soon, we could have saved tens of thousands of lives, we could have saved a lot of time, a lot of money, a lot of businesses, our country could legitimately be opening back up right now, we could have gotten through this for the most part by now with competent leadership through governing and media.

I work in big box store. We don't have any problems. This is a conservative state but people are wearing masks. The problem was opening too soon. .

Everyone in this in forum including you is smart enough to not be jaded by viral videos of stupidity

The narrative of right wingers not wanting to wear masks is very overplayed. I think everyone now understand the numbers.

It may have taken too long but it has set in. Everyone in here is guilty of living in their political vacuum. Get out and talk to your neighbors, while social distancing

Fly over states are doing the best but that obviously has to do with population density

All that being said I wouldn't venture to guess what's going on in small town/rural Texas

Bill Gates is an actual genius. Elon Musk is just really really intelligent with excellent business acumen.

EVERY SINGLE conservative leaning individual I know from my experience in a right wing bubble for multiple years buy into the "masks violate my basic freedoms" rhetoric.

It's a severe problem caused by this current administration's leader making light of masks and saying stuff like how masks make him look weak.

Look I understand some of you don’t want a 2000 acre factory in Del Valle
So you should go to the land where it is and start protesting
Make sure you tell the cows and coyotes there that they should be vegans

I trust Elon and his new job site bid about as much as I trusted the whole Amazon bidding war process. It won’t be Elon that saves the Texas economy that’s for sure.

It’ll be the fact that we still have two things: Affordable real estate and affordable workers. The tax incentives, lack of environmental protections, and right to not work just being bonuses for billionaires wanting to expand somewhere.

The fact that it’s rated high as a bounce back quick state says nothing about the level of pain and suffering we’ll endure in the process. In the end we Texans who are from here are going to bear the brunt of the negatives in the process. I’m not talking about politicians like Abbott or billionaires that say they are from here but in places like Aspen every chance they get.

Also Elon is a douche. Smart guy and I love what Tesla is doing but the dude is a narcissist who stands on the shoulders of teams of smart hard working people and claims their collective genius as his own. Him recently playing to the right is just hilarious and shows how self serving he is. He’s not in it to help the environment or push technology in a way that advances our global interests. He’s in it for Elon. F that guy.

Probably the biggest issue with Elon I have. I feel sorry for the lead engineers at his companies. They probably get less credit than they deserve because of his narcissisism.

Why did the Del Valle schools need to give him $60M to do it?

Do you even know the socioeconomic demo for most of AOC's voting constituents? Hint: most of them aren't going to get hired into that now hypothetical Amazon office. That Amazon office was a corporate office meaning most of the employment would come from upper middle class proffesionals. Most of the employees would be commuting to the office from outside AOC's district.

So when Amazon tries to strike a deal to pay no local taxes, that means Amazon gets to reap the benefits of not paying local taxes, while also not hiring local individals which means less money to put into the local education system and other local infrustrcture that actually HELPS AOC's constituency.

AOC is going to do what is beneficial to her voting constituency. Her voting constituency would not be positively impacted by a company placing a corporate office in her district without playing local taxes.

For her constituents, a properly funded k-12 education system is far more important as that is going to in the future allow for her constituents to apply for those proffesional white collar positions.
