Started clicking through this thread, and now BBQ is a must for dinner tonight. The problem is I work in Pasadena, and live out in NE Harris County - So options are limited. I have to coose from "No Name BBQ" on 225 and Pasadena Blvd. and "The Brisket House" on Center in Deer Park. I've only eaten at either of these places once or twice, but I'm leaning towards The Brisket House. It ain't hill country good, but it'll do.
Also, does anybody remember Southwest Market in San Marcos? While I was in school at Texas State I would eat there 2-3 times a week. Best brisket I'd ever had at the time. Around the time I graduated, Spring 2008, the name changed to Woody's. I'd kill to have a couple lbs of that brisket and some cold beer, get fat full, and watch the Rockets push to game six tonight. Then head to The Square, and skip classes tomorrow. Damn I miss Texas State/San Marcos. Anyway, this is the place: Southwest Market
Wish me luck guys. I'm leaving at 7AM tomorrow from Houston to head to Franklin BBQ. My wife is 6 and a half months pregnant and I don't think she can handle the two hour wait for BBQ much longer. And once my son comes I don't think he is going to let us wait 2-3 hours for BBQ. So this may be my last chance for a while to eat at Franklins. I'm just wondering if it can live up to the hype. No doubt it will be good (probably great) but the hype is insane. But we'll see tomorrow. We are heading to San Antonio afterward so I may try to stop (if the wife will let me) at city market in luling as well (which as of now is my favorite BBQ place) to help get perspective with Franklins.
If you strike out at franklins or want even more BBQ check out j muellers a few blocks away. It's great as well
Well I'm here. Line isn't too bad right now but it looks likes its threatening to rain . T minus 1 hour.
I'm in N. Austin off of Mopac. Please deliver. I'm hungry and every time I click on this thread, I have cravings.
I swear if i lived in Austin, I'd try to resale Franklins at 100% markup. I think I'd make a killing.
I'll add more later (including a pic) but I will say this now: the brisket live up to the hype.
anyone living in sping branch area of houston ever try this hole in the wall place call beef & bun bbq? http://www.beefnbunbbq.com/Menu_5Y85.html
I just noticed while reading that other Franklin BBQ thread that some HEB's started carrying Franklin BBQ's bbq sauces back in January or February.
