Anyone been here? I discovered this place today after driving back from Austin. Really cool stuff in there, and the guy who runs it is extremely nice. The place is very small, but if you happen to be driving through, I highly recommend you make the stop. Here's a good article I saw about the museum. http://www.poundingtherock.com/2011/3/16/2052735/photo-essay-texas-basketball-museum I had the exact same scenario happen to me as the person who wrote that article. (Saw the sign for the museum, turned back around, place was closed and I called the owner and he let me in) There's Rockets championship memorabilia in there as well http://www.texasbasketball.com/Museum.html
Not too much to be honest. I saw a lot more UH (Phi Slama Jama era) and Rockets stuff than Spurs. Even Charlotte Hornets memorabilia (David Wesley especially).
I remember seeing a sign for it one time when driving but didn't see the building. It's off of 290 correct?
That's correct. The building is off to the side on one of the small roads ahead of the sign. Lots of history just sitting there in the middle of nowhere.
I honestly don't think the guy is in it for the money. Some people just have a passion for basketball, similar to Clutch having this forum . The least I could do is help spread the word for him. I don't recommend just driving out there to visit it as you will probably only get about 30 minutes out of it, but if you're around it's a neat place to visit.
I've been driving past that sign/place for years. Always wondered what the hell it was all about. They even (relatively) recently put an "official" state information sign on the highway about it. I'll try to stop sometime. Thanks for the info.
It is in Carmine Texas about 20 miles west of Brenham. JR's steak house across the street from the HoF is pretty good.
