Texas Awarding Millions to Wrongly Convicted People

You'd be lucky to last a few days. I have someone very close to me in prison and it breaks my heart everyday that I'm in no power to do anything for the time being.

 

You'd do it voluntarily for 1 mil?

How much do you think you'd deserve if you were accidently put away then? Missing your child's birth, seeing him live/walk/laugh/cry his first years...at the same time you'll be getting beatin, raped, and locked in a 6x6 cell for hours on end...oh yeah I hear they serve GREAT food there too...I'm sure you'd expect to get paid more...

So do these guys ....

Seriously.

Per BJ's response, I'd probably do 1 year in jail for a million. I've been in relationships that were easily worse than jail. (no not my recent one...)

However, there is no amount of money available to have my name tarnished, and have the best 25 years of my life spent in prison for something I had nothing to do with.

Again, the Judge and prosecutor bring these fabricated things to trial. Much like fraud at Enron, They should be liable. And I find them much more despicable than Enron folks, as if that is possible.

 

Not to mention that you are constantly worried about getting shanked, etc. This does not even cover any sexual abuse suffered.

It is not only about loss of liberty.

 

And yet, it still isn't enough to make up for all the years that you weren't there for your son and daughter. There's a higher cost for being thrown in jail wrongly than living expenses. We just don't miss it until it's gone.

 

Potential ass raping and other assaults for a year to get one million? Even if it doesn't happen, living on the edge in fear of that can be worse than the event itself.

For some weird reason this reminds of that random poll of how much money would one give up Rockets for a year...


I don't enjoy the thought of paying for other people's ****ups, but our focus should be on our aggressively unforgiving penal system instead of some luxurious rewards people think these victims are getting.
