I'm a horns fan, and this was hilarious. Fans who criticize this and other games may point to player's faults, but the root of the problem is our coaching staff. This pro style offense doens't work in college football. And Carl Reese, way to have your D come ready to play today, good job loser. Good defensive coordinators have their team ready to play every game, not just most of the games (Ex: 2002 texas tech, 2001 washington and now this one) And Greg Davis, those 20 two yard gains by Benson were really productive, and those reverses to Jeffery really worked also. The reason I'm not blaming the players is because, well, for example, if we had Bob Stoops and his staff coaching us ( or possibly any other coaching staff), we would have a more disciplined defense and a more deceptive, less predictable offense. Our players would be better if the coach fit in a system that took best advantage of their talents. But not at UT, the players are thrown in to a set offensive scheme, no matter if the offense fits their talents or not. The little confidence I had in the coaching staff is completely gone, and I think losing to OU and at A&M would be a benefit for the university because the fans will be calling for these deadbeats to be fired!
Anybody who doesn't believe that coaches can lose you ballgames didn't see the end of the Ohio State-NC State game today. And I agree as a non-Texas fan that Mack Brown is terrible as is Greg Davis. The Horns will never get to the NC game with those clowns in charge.
Arkansas was supposed to be one of the easier games on the schedules. Things don't look good. 3-4 losses. Unless Brown makes some changes, he'll be gone.
"Buh-bye, Mack. Don't forget to turn the lights off in your office when you pack up and leave. Oh, and check to make sure Greg Davis and Carl Reese haven't left anything in their offices, either. It's such a shame to have to throw family pictures into the trash."
I'm not saying Vincent Young would've saved the day for the Horns, but I think he should've gotten a chance to do his thing. We all know he brings another dimension to the game and by the middle of the 3rd quarter anything would've helped. BTW, did anybody else see that disgusted look on Roy Williams face at the end of the game? Bottom line is that some changes are definately gonna have to be made.
Manny how did NC state coaches's lose the game. From where I was seated the refs kept NC State in the game (and yes OSU played bad) and then OSU's offense and defense mad plays to win at the end (especially the O scoring 3 consecutive downs)
Has anyone ever seen Mack Brown and George W. Bush in the same place at the same time? You won't because they are the same human being. Think about it... it's true.
I'm going to have to change my name before people start getting the wrong idea. I can't believe the stuff that comes out of his mouth. I thought Mock did well the first 3.5 quarters. Then he fell apart in the end, which is what everyone will remember. Even when I was at UT, I wasn't much of a college football fan. But, I tuned in today hoping to see Vincent Young in action. Mack has recruited a LOT more talent than when I was at UT (Gardere and Morenz at QB), but he's severely underachieved with it.
Okay, I didn't watch the game but I just looked at the box score. I don't really understand why people are blaming Mock. He threw for 260 yards, 3 touchdowns, no interceptions, didn't fumble, and was only sacked once. That doesn't seem like that bad of a game. What did he do wrong? The defense giving up 269 rushing yards seem like the real reason they lost.
The last 4 plays in overtime form the 4 yd line were absolutely terrible. In that series, they made Mack look like Lombardi. Difference is NC St. was not expected to be in that situation (overtime)
Quarterback sneak on first and goal, then third and goal, then that final rush on 4th. NC State lost that game, OSU should be happy it got out alive
He turned the ball over on a lateral, and the last half of the 4th quarter he made some really bad throws and decisions - tossing the ball out of bounds or behind receivers, or throwing 1-yard passes with time running out. He was reminiscent of Simms with a lot of passes batted down too. I wouldn't blame Mock either, but he just doesn't look like a good QB.
I guess you missed the trapped ball OSU that was called an INT, and than they went on to score a TD. Terrible call it wasnt even close, there wont be many worse calls than that this season. OSU was lucky to get a W but it seems like I say that every weekend
hehe... Go Cougs!!! (it's more of the UT curse for UH being shut out of the SW Conference all those years... hahahahahahaaaaa!!!!)
This team is pathetic. I had one obscenity laced tirade after Pearson was talking **** after he thought he stopped the guy on 1st and inches on the goal line. Too bad the player scored.
Well...what can I say? Texas refused to give Arkansas the respect they deserved and it cost them the game. Excuse me while I bask in the glory... Wooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Pigggggggggggggggggggggggggg! Sooooooooiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the problem with mock was the toss on the option was increbibly stupid at the 10 yd line (though not as stupid as actually calling that play while we were torching them with our receivers) and cost us a probable seven, he continues to overthrow crossing routes and anything in the flats is always more to the line of scrimmage side than to the upfield side and thus either is incomplete or gives the receiver no momentum on the catch. even our one real good drive at the end of the half took some good catches by the receivers on passes thrown behind them. he got passes batted down and would never run no matter how much time he had. and that's another thing, he had more time to throw against a non-terrible team than probably any UT qb in the now 4 years i've been here. he had all day almost all the time and continually misread and misthrew. his best pass was to BJ b/c he hit him in stride and BJ was able to turn it up field for a big gain. furthermore, roy williams got him about 60 yards just b/c he's the best player in college football and you give him the ball on a 2 yd pass and he can get 15. and furthermore, he doesn't use roy enough (despite seeming to look at him on every play first, as it should be). twice the cb covering roy blitzed and he didn't hit roy. inexcusable. all that was b/t roy and the endzone was a safety 10 yards in front of him. i'll take my chances with roy burning a man in the open field b/c i've never seen anyone do it better, he's just so amazing. he doesn't even take time to set up his jukes, he just seems to do them while still running. we should throw deep to roy a minimum of 4 times a game, and if he's ever single covered, that should be the automatic audible. i don't care if the flea-flicker reverse option draw rollout tight end throwback is called, if roy is single covered, we're now running "throw the ball deep to roy." worst case scenario, it's a poor pass and roy knocks it down. but that last paragraph goes to coaching, which sucks ass even more than before. our D is like tech's O, if we figure you out, you're in trouble. if you figure us out, we're in trouble b/c we're not adjusting.
so uhhh did i just see that lance mitchell of ou is out for the season on the bottomline of abc or cbs? or does ou have another mitchell?
