I kind of understand the media blackout. The team needs to move on and stop answering questions about Arkansas. The coaches on the other hand should be fair game.
1. Texas can't run. 2. Arkansas' line was fabulous 3. Turnovers. That's really what it comes down to. Eliminate the turnovers, and we probably win by 4. Put them in, we lose by 10. I don't think I've ever seen an O-line that impressive though. I knew they were big, but figured we'd run around them. Just didn't happen. Play that game 10 times, and I still think we win 8... but it was a great win, fair and square. I thought the celebrations in the end zone were excessive. I'm a BC alumnus... and when we beat Notre Dame at South Bend, we always behaved with more class. But it's not like it was particularly dastardly.
Kolb is turning out to be far better than we expected, and it would be nice to have a mature 4-year QB. We'll have to wait until next year to see Briles in action, though.
after watching that, should VY have even been allowed to play HS football? i mean that was just plain unfair. he was beating people to the outside even though they had the angle easily. and that was in the astrodome, so i assume that was the playoffs and against good teams. not that the NMSU game didn't make me a believer, but damn that was impressive. how many bombs do they throw in madison?
Smokey: Yeah, but I'm from Lufkin originally... so trust me when I say that Lufkin: 1. Got a little lucky. 2. Had more talent surrounding Reggie McNeal. From what I understand, VY single-handedly carried that team.
I don't see how #1 is more true for Lufkin than it is for any high school state champion, but #2 is true. Reggie had some skilled receivers, a good line, and an excellent defense that prevented him from having to carry the team during the season, but the championship game was a different story. Reggie McNeal almost single-handedly won the game against what is considered one of the strongest teams in the state every single year. That said, I do believe that Vincent Young was the superior high school player and will definitely be every bit the college(Hopefully more) player that Reggie is. You just can't argue with Vince's high school numbers...amazing. I say start him.
Check their numbers in both games and in the playoffs. Well, regular season as well. I think Lufkin is still going strong (top ten), while Madison has come back down to earth. That east Texas area has alot of good schools. Lufkin's district is stout. Madison has never had Lufkin's tradition and success.
