You know, that sounds a little like hyperbole at first glance but really, it's not. I really don't think it will ever happen.

Stoops could coach OU over Texas and when he's done with that, they could switch sides and he would coach Texas over OU. Hell, Stoops could probably coach Sam Houston State over Mack Brown and Texas.

This is hilarious. UT fans have no idea how to lose. I'm listening to the call-in shows this morning on the radio and its a joke. People are calling in making fun of the residents of Arkansas and asking how UT could have "lost" to Arkansas. I guess it never occured to anybody that Arkansas played great and beat UT, not that UT beat themselves or that the coaching was fully to blame. UT has good talent as defined by recruiting, but how much better are they than the next-best talent that goes to other schools? Obviously not enough to win on alone.

I've seen this little bit before when Rice punked UT in baseball all three times we played this past year. The first thing that comes out of their mouth is how "classless" the victor is.

Well, if starting a cheer when an opposing team's player is down with an injury isn't classless, then I don't know what is.

I agree with the rest of your post. Regardless of how ****ty our gameplan was and how it was executed, Arkansas ran all over our asses, plain and simple. And we didn't do what it takes to change that.

Congrats to the Hogs, they deserve it.

Glad someone else noticed the Arkansas band playing and cheering when Tillman Holloway was down. Yes it was classless. But as far as cheering and carrying on in the northwest corner of the endzone, they deserved it. Huge win for the Hogs, and they earned the right to celebrate on our field. To think otherwise is very aggy-ish.

Agreed. If someone called that classless in this thread (I skipped a couple of pages), then that's just flat out wrong.

The thing with Arkansas is that many people took a lot of stock into

    (1) the fact that they were not ranked
    (2) they were an old rival of UT from the SWC days and for the most part was UT's b****

However, what people fail to realize is this:

    (1) with the exceptions of Vanderbilt and Kentucky and sometimes, Mississippi State, all of the teams in the SEC (as much as I hate to admit it) are solid teams that are capable of beating the majority of schools out there. If UT had lost to LSU or South Carolina, I have a feeling that many people would still think that those teams are not that good.

    (2) Houston Nutt is a good coach. I don't think he has had a losing season yet since being at Arkansas. I know that most of you don't follow the SEC around here, but for him to get the Hogs in the SEC Championship Game (a game I watched in person) last season despite the fact they got smoked by Georgia is remarkable in my opinion. Jones is not a good passer at all, at least he wasn't last season. Stop their run and the Hogs are done, unfortunately Texas never could stop their run.

Now with that being said, Arkansas is obviously one of those teams that you must beat if you want to seriously entertain thoughts for a National Championship. But they are far from being a bad team, Arkansas or Texas that is. However, neither are National Championship caliber and with the athletes that Texas have been getting, that is sad. That is why I think that Mack Brown and company should be shown the door at Texas.

Can't say I disagree with anything you said. Arkansas always pulls off 1 or 2 upsets a year. Didn't they beat Tennessee in Neyland last year or the year before? They beat LSU in a stunning fashion last year on crazy Matt Jones drive.

Either way, Mack Brown is an underachieving piece of garbage, who couldn't run the ball on NMSU.

Yea, Baqui, Arkansas has had Tennessee's number over the years. I know that they beat them in Arkansas like 2 years ago and of course lost like in 7 overtimes last season in Neyland. However, the first year or two that Arkansas played in the SEC (the season might have been like '93) they beat Tennessee in Knoxville like 26-25 but I think they had a losing record.

That LSU game last year was crazy. I had to go meet this girl and when I left my home, LSU was up by like 13 late in the game. By the time I got to the restaurant to meet her, I saw Arkansas kicking an extra point to take the lead! I was like "How in the hell did they do that?" And the fact that they did it against LSU was even sweeter for them because everyone was talking about how great LSU was going to be last season and they pretty much were a bust.

As someone who covers the SEC for a major newspaper, I can tell you that Nutt is one of the most underrated coaches, period. He can flat-out recruit and coach, especially in a talent-poor area like Arkansas where recruiting competes with LSU to the south and Texas and Texas A&M to the west.

The Horns got hooked by a great team with a great O-line and great defense that gets no ink, unlike Auburn. Mack Brown should be given another season, but if this underachieving continues from those unbelievable recruiting classes UT hauls in nearly every season, he needs to go.

Well, I was in the Razorback band for 99 and 00. I'll tell you this: If they were playing while there was an injury, it was complete and utter ignorance on the part of the b*stard director they now employ. The man knows nothing of football. I guarantee you he was just waiting for the crowd to get "quiet" so everyone could hear them better.

So...rest assured the classlessness was probably more of an ignorance issue.

This season is nowhere near over, but god damn if I was in charge Reese and Davis would be shown the door today. I don't really care about the timing, blah, blah.

First on Reese. Memo to dip**** defensive coordinator you were playing a one dimensional offense with a talent advantage, don't play our guys ten yards off the line, ugh. You bring everyone up to the line and dare Jones to beat you. Hell use DJ in a spy role where we disguise coverage and drop him back when it looks like they have us over the top. You were an embarassment to football coaches everywhere on Saturday.

Davis. What do I need to say about him that hasn't been said ad nauseum. If a defense overloads one side of the field, don't run to that side. Also, the WR screen needs to go. Two plays for you Greg: WR Streaks and Hitch and Go. Use them.

Also, why don't we just stop trying to use the run to setup the pass when we have arguably the best skill positions in the country.

I could call a better gameplan just from my NCAA football playstation experience.

And to the players. Marcus Tubbs. The next time you raise the roof, make a play. I'm not cheering until you back up your talk. You guys allowed a 50 yard completion on third and 30 from the 2. I don't think you really cared about this game like you should have either. Special teams. What the hell are you doing allowing a 50 yard kickoff return after we make a big defensive touchdown to get us back into the game?

Chance Mock. Arkansas whipped your sorry ass, now get that through your head. Also, why oh why did you do such an idiotic thing like try a pitch with a D lineman in your way with us driving to tie on their 35. Do you have a brain?

Cedric Benson. Stop juking before you bust through the holes. It's called north-south running get used to it.

I'm so angry it's not even funny. I want vince young starting and I mean now. Chance is not special, Vince is. He's one of those guys you just know will succeed. Also, Selvin Young should get every shot to be our starting tailback, at the very least to light a fire in Ced.

This was our worst game since 63-14, by far, and our coaching staff deserves most of the blame. I've had it with Davis, I've had it with Reese, and most of all I want Craig Way to stop staunchly defending the team. I'm so pissed off about this loss, and it's sad because of our talent we only got killed by a good football team and lost by 10 points.

Those players didn't deserve to be cheered on Saturday. They have to earn my respect, and they did nothing to do that.

But the bottom line is: it's not the players, it's the coaches. How many more times do we have to have a Simms scenario of a star not panning out, before we figure out the common denominator.

There's no doubt who in my mind is the problem now, and their names are Davis and Reese.

    Preach it, dammit, preach it!

Maybe we should have a damn rally on campus (for those of you still attending or living close by) and just tell those football players they suck. And make an effigy of Mack Brown and his "coordinators." Do you think the message would get across then?

    Texas players stage media blackout

    AUSTIN, Texas (AP)—

The Texas Longhorns don't want to talk about last week's loss - or anything else.

Texas players decided Tuesday not to talk to reporters until after Saturday night's game against Rice.

The No. 13 Longhorns (1-1) fell seven spots in The Associated Press poll after a 38-28 loss at home to then-unranked Arkansas. After the game, Arkansas (2-0) jumped to No. 14.

Texas coach Mack Brown said the media blackout was decided by the players and that he and the coaching staff had nothing to do with the decision.

"They decided they wanted to focus on the game and not have any distractions," Brown said.

The players made their decision at the end of practice Tuesday night before walking off the field and past a group of reporters.

    ------

Jokes and teasing aside, you can't get better without fully acknowledging mistakes. Sounds to me like the media is just like rest of you guys, pissed and looking for accountability.

The University of Houston welcomes Vincent Young with open arms.

Seriously, we've got our QB for four years, barring any injury.

You already took our starting SS, Kendal Briles (Art's son), and brought him in to play QB next year.
