This is one of the biggest wins for A&M in quite some time. Congratulations to them. San Diego, ahhh. Drink it in. It always goes down smooth. What a beautiful view Mr Burgundy. I know I love this city. It’s a fact. It’s the greatest city in the history of mankind. Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it…San Diaaago. Which of course, in German, means a whale’s vagina. Um..No, there’s no way that’s correct. I’m sorry, I was trying to impress you. I don’t know what it means. I’ll be honest, I don’t think anyone knows what it means anymore. Scholars maintain that the translation was lost hundreds of years ago. Doesn’t it mean Saint Diego? No. No. No, that’s what it means. Really. Well. Agree to disagree.
as do i. a&m looks much improved. they played good D. but we were shooting 21% at the half and then proceeded to go another 5 minutes without hitting a shot. that tells you something has gone terribly wrong. by your definition, no team has ever had a bad shooting night, it's just always the defense. based on the horns' season to date, which includes losing by only 1 to wake forest at wake forest, this was far below our normal game, much less our A game. we shot horrifically with enough open looks. it was a bad game, we got beat down. it sucks, but bad performances will happen. had we crumbled down the stretch or appeared lackadaisacal, there would be cause for concern. we simply couldn't hit the broadside of a barn, defense or no defense. it happens. i doubt it will happen the next time we play a&m. i doubt a&m will hold their next opponent to 18% shooting 25 minutes into the game. it's amazing to think a&m lost all 16 conference games last year. they look as if they should be able to at least go .500 this year, which is a remarkable turnaround. it doesn't seem anyone will be stopping osu.
First and foremost, I didn't watch the game, I have no reason to post about it. But upon reading this thread, I noticed something important and must speak out about it... YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE!!! I would like everyone to notice this post, for it is rare indeed: bigtexxx has just posted something positive, if not even complimentary, about a school other than Rice. Thank you, you may resume your internet activities.
The Aggies are the best story in Big 12 men's basketball this year, and this is coming from a UT alum. Billy Gillespie has them playing with fire. As far as last night's game goes, I chalk it up to inspired play by the Ags and a "live by the 3, die by the 3" style of play from the Horns. If the Horns would have pounded the ball inside more, they would have worn the Ags down...not saying the Horns would have won, but it would have been a much closer game. I now owe an Aggie co-worker a plate of enchiladas at La Tapatia Taqueria for lunch. Good news is I get to get me a plate of 'em too!
Great win for A&M, but I never would have thought they'd blow out Texas...Unbelievable...Oh well, makes the Big 12 that much better...Aggies should break the top 25...
Texas looked like they tried to go inside, but just couldn't due to A&M's excellent defense. Seriously, they were manhandled. Remember that A&M got like 50 fouls called on them in the first half even; one of their guys fouled out in the first half. I'm starting the think the Texas freshmen aren't as good as advertised. Klotz is a puss and a punk and I can't believe he's still on the team after that crap he pulled a couple of games ago along with trying to beat up a girl in the off-season.
I agree Freak. I have a hard time getting into the game when that guy's in the game. I love Barnes. He's a great coach, has turned UT into a national power, and by all accounts is a great guy, however, I really think he's dropped the ball with Klotz.
Maybe Klotz should have been suspended at the start of the season, but he shouldn't have been kicked off the team.
The good thing about NCAA hoops is that a random regular season loss is virtually meaningless. It's really all about peaking during tournament time, ala Xavier who went on an amazing tear through the post season.
Matters not come March Madness, when you have to throw out all the records. Texas didn't win the Big 12 when they made the Final Four run two years back. In fact, they lost to an awful aggy team at home that year. It's all about hitting stride then.
It's all about (1)getting into the tournament and (2)peaking during the tournament. Those are the teams that win the national championship.
Goobers aren't allowed into the tournament. When was the last time you saw MITs basketball team make it?
Actually a friend of mine played on MIT's basketball team. He's not a goober at all. His sister played at Rice.
