The funniest part about them rushing the court today was the small group of Longhorn fans that stormed with 'em. What dopes.
On another note, why do fans storm the court/field? I never understood this. Aren't you pretty much risking injuring your players? Maybe I'm just a prude...*shrugs*
i'm trying to imagine a way UT could have played worse in this game. anyone got any ideas? all of our outside shooters were ice cold. our big men must've missed upwards of 15 layups/putbacks. and every post up turnaround or midrange jumper clanked short. and then we sucked at the free throw line. meanwhile, acie law is playing like michael jordan and hit two 3's well behind the line with a guy right in his face as the shotclock was running down. we got beat and it sucks but it doesn't worry me too much b/c i can't imagine such a convergence of bad factors happening again. seriously, how could we have played any worse or a&m stepped up anymore? maybe we're worse than the university of ottawa.
francis4prez - I agree. I think you and I could have started for UT tonight and done about as good of a job. . What this means to me is I should get tickets to the A&M game now because it'll be a good game this year.
Ok, this is exactly the type of UT arrogance that pisses people off. You got beat by a very good A&M squad. Give them some credit. You act like it was a complete fluke.
fracis4prez , Though I don't doubt UT played far from its best, it think your response is more apropiately applied to the A&M win in Austin back in 2002. A&M hoops looks so different this year. They are intense, quick, young, atheletic, can handle the rock, can shoot, and very very very agressive on D.
How is that arrogance? He didn't say A&M wasn't a good team. Did you actually watch the game? If you did you couldn't deny most of this stuff. A team that usually hits 45% of its shots and 41% of its 3's only hit about 24% of both. We aren't saying A&M isn't a good squad this year. This game proved it I think. What we are saying is that anyone who watched the game saw that UT did not have its "A" game. I also don't understand the whole "UT" arrogance thing. To me, UT fans are some of the most modest I've been around (depending on where from Texas they originate). If you want arrogant fans, try venturing to the University of Michigan as I've got a family full of them.
I think that 24% shooting is more attributed to TAMU's pesky D. And a smidge of bad shooting. But UT has been a team that makes bad shooting decisions. They just usually hit because the D isnt to swell. And on a serious note, just wanted to know what good teams UT has beat this year so far? that isnt a joke I dont follow until about halfway through the season.
you are an idiot...can you read what he wrote????! did that sound arrogant?!?!?!?!?! get a life and stop devoting your time to picking fights because you dont like the university of texas, I highly doubt you have many close friends no matter where you go to school, I know its rice, because all you do is stir people up.
Yes, I watched the entire game. I would attribute UT's poor shooting to excellent hustle and defense from the Aggies. There's a reason UT didn't shoot that well. You have to give the Aggie defense credit. In my opinion it is arrogant to assume that you just had a bad shooting night instead of giving credit to your opponent.
Not if you persist with wanton protocol breaches like starting threads in improper fora. Actions have consequences.
A couple of things: First of all, the Ags do deserve credit for being a much improved team. I think the biggest thing I saw is much improved coaching, varied offensive sets and EXTREMELY improved defense. That impressed me the most. You can tell all those early season victories, and a close game with KU, has instilled some confidence in them. Secondly, while much of it can be attributed to the defense, it is a FACT that UT doesn't usually shoot that poorly from behind the 3 pt line. The game fell apart as Gibson struggled and got knocked out of the game. He finished 1 of 8 from the 3 pt arc, and 1 for 11 overall. At one point in the 2nd half, the Horns were still shooting 18% for the game! Yes the Aggies deserve credit for playing well. But to say UT didn't play well isn't necessarily arrogant, or a discredit to to their opponent. Sometimes you don't make your shots, whether you are guarded or not. This was certainly one of those nights as well....
Great win by aggies! no more saying we haven't beaten any worthy opponents.......unless you call UT a weak team.
I think A&M deserves to be ranked. They are 12-1, beat UT and nearly beat Kansas (in Lawrence!!). This is a remarkable start for the Aggies. Their new coach is excellent.
All I have to say is Whoop!!! I listened to the game on the radio as I couldn't see it out here on TV, but its great to see A&M finally have a good team. I remember going to some games a few years ago when I went there where there were MAYBE 1,000 people there. It's good to finally have a winner. At the start of the season I was hoping for NIT, but now I am starting to get greedy and I am seeing the possibility of a NCAA bid. A long way to go, but what a great start. The new coach really has instilled a tough, aggressive attitude into this team.
